I usually do too.  I'd be there at 6, but I'm one of those terrible fisherman that's not a fan of waking up early on my days off.  So noon will have to do...

Is it for all cars or just launching boats?

Mrs. Scrogg made a ton of cookies. Choco chip and Peanut Butter Choco chip. Also a dozen or so "Power Bars" for during the day fishing. Its oatmeal, honey, PB, choco chips, raisins, and macadamia nuts. Only 12 squares or so. So first come first serve!!!! Lol

I didn't get everyone's sheets but I think the top 3 were

First-Hi Salenity/Wachati 91.5 inches Big Bass 19.75

Second-Bluebasser86/Nicole-89.25   Big Bass-18.5

Third-kanasbassfisher08/Ricky 89     Big Bass-18

The winning length in the fall shindig was 84.5 inches, a full 7 inches less than the winning length this time. Just a little further proof of the quality of fish that were being caught today. Supposedly the smallmouth population is down at Melvern from last year. Maybe it is, I don't see it, but if that means more of the fish like we were catching today I don't have a problem with that.

We had several actual keeper sized smallmouth caught, we had 2 in our boat and KB08 and Ricky had 3 so we could have actually had a weigh in this time and had it been interesting. With the size of these smallmouth we may have to consider everyone weighing their fish on the boat next time because some of them we caught were 3.5 pounds but only 17 inches long. Obviously the main problem with that would be not every cheap digital scale is going to weigh the same while every ruler should measure the same, just something to consider. Weather was not nearly as nice as it was supposed to be but the fish bit from start to finish and the quality! wow we caught so many nice fish today. Jerkbaits were the deal for me but Nicole caught the big bass in our boat on a tiny little Luck E Strike squarebill. My big smallmouth was 18.25 on a shakyhead. My smallmouth/largemouth double.

Nicole's new PB smallmouth. 18.5 inches and 3.96 pounds.

We had an unbelievable day on the water, despite the weather. Blake (KSDawg) caught a smallie in the first five minutes and it really never stopped the rest of the day. Best bait for us was a chartreuse shad 78 pointer, but also caught a bunch on an RC STX. Caught a couple largemouth up in a cut on the north side on shakyheads. We caught a ton of fish in the 16-16.5 range. I broke my personal best with an 18.5, wish we would have had a scale to weigh it. I can't wait for the next get together!!

My team could only manage to scrounge up a measily 77 inches in comparison to everyone elses near 90 inch numbers.

We had trouble getting on the consistently larger smallies everyone was catching. Part of the reason for that was neither of us were good at throwing a jerkbait.

However, we ground it out till the finish and still ended up with a five fish limit (all largemouth by the way).

I think for my next trip I'll hit melvern again, or a different lake where jerkbaits work well and only bring two rods, and my jerkbait box. That'll probably force me to stick with it until I learn the ropes. "jerk jerk pause" just isn't good enough advice for me apparently.

At any rate, here was our big fish of the day caught on a shadrap.

I had a great time meeting some new folks, and seeing some old faces. Next time, wherever we hold the thing, I plan on being more of a competitor just so long as it's not at perry :).

Was nice to meet everyone, had a good time fishing despite the weather.    We fished areas that in the past have produced well for us, but this was not the case yesterday, we only managed 4 fish, and they were small, we did have a couple come off and and 1 very nice follow from what looked to be at least a 5lb LM.    We caught fish on a variety of baits, spinnerbait, jerkbait, jigs, crankbaits but could not find the numbers or size.

Thanks again to Blue for putting this together, look forward to the next event.

Hey guys yesterday was a BLAST! Lets start planning the next one. I'd like to do something different on the weigh in, I'm not sure what but I'd like to have some form of proof that we caught what we said we caught. Maybe all fish should be photographed on the board or a pic of them on a set of scales that we could check for accuracy after the tournament? I don't know just some rambling ideas...

So we found a stretch that was stacked with smallies. We ran up and down it twice and I asked Peter where he wanted to go next and he said hit it again. Reluctantly I thought don't leave fish to find fish so we went through it again and got SLAMMED by a 19.75" 4.4# PB smallie!

We figure we got at least 25 fish off that one spot!

All of our fish came from a jerk bait, a French pearl 110 caught most of mine including several that straightened the hooks on my $25 bait! Luckily I didn't loose but 1 fish all day and it wasn't from a bent hook it just let go? Peter however did loose one that we got a nice look at that would have gone 4-5 pounds!

NONE of our fish were caught on a ned rig or were caught from the dam.

I think thes was the fish of the day a 19.75
