Trailer Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I bought some gear at the BPS sale and on the list was a Pro Qualifier. I'm looking forward to using it. I've got it paired up with a new JM Carbonlite micro guide rod. I've got mostly Abu stuff but the guy was pushing BPS brands hard and I can respect that so I'm giving them a chance. Hope I love them both. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 26, 2013 Super User Posted February 26, 2013 If the sheer number of 5 star reviews on the PQ at basspro.com are any indication, I think you'll be quite pleased! Quote
chromedog Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I felt the pressure too, I bought one to try on my new wright and mcgill rick clunn s-glass reaction rod. I also broke down and bought xps fluoro, 12# to try it with. we shall see! Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 26, 2013 Super User Posted February 26, 2013 You wont be disappointed with the PQ. Hootie Quote
gripnrip Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 If the sheer number of 5 star reviews on the PQ at basspro.com are any indication, I think you'll be quite pleased! This is exactly why I purchased 5 of these reels before Christmas. 2 Quote
fl_bass Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I am lovin mine. But it's my first BC so I have nothing to compare it to. Quote
The Rooster Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I went down with the goal of getting at least one, and maybe two. I didn't get one at all though. Got sidetracked with grabbing up new lures and spent near double my budget on just that. The PQ did look good though. Definitely a solid reel. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 27, 2013 Super User Posted February 27, 2013 I've owned several, solid reel it will serve u well. Quote
Diggy Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I am lovin mine. But it's my first BC so I have nothing to compare it to. Good! Enjoy it!!! Quote
livetofish28 Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 You will not be disappointed I have four of them that I use for tournaments there an outstanding reel for a 100 bucks that will hold up to the abuse of fishing Quote
Trailer Posted February 27, 2013 Author Posted February 27, 2013 The guy at Bass Pro was cool. I forgot to bring some reels to trade so he tossed me two Zebco 202's for $5 a piece and told me to go check out then turn around and trade them. It was a net savings of $20 after trade in and purchase.Turns out they donate them to the local Boy Scouts troop. Neat deal. Quote

The one here in the richmond area did the same thing except they didn't even make me buy the reels, they just rang it up and then used the reel trade in coupon all in one transaction. Worked out pretty well on my BPS PQ purchase.... I hope i enjoy the reel as much as everyone else. I bought the 4.7:1 ratio for cranking that is matched up on a kistler helium micro guide 7' cranking rod. Hopefully i can get out this weekend and try it out. Quote
JoePhish Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Just bought my first PQ because I have had such a positive experience with my PQ Tournament. With the trade in on top of the sale price this was what I feel was a steal on a reel that is considered the best bang for your buck when it's full priced. Bought the 5.2:1 lefty mostly for cranking but also as a means to slow myself down. Tried it out for the first time yesterday. It didn't take me long to dial it in while I threw everything from weightless soft plastics to heavy cranks. Since we're talking BPS reels, I wanted to know what kind of lube should go in the lube port; grease, oil or something else? Quote
TrapperJ Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I took the PQ lunge myself, on sale for $80 + the reel trade in program, hard to ignore. 1 Quote
sarcazmo Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 PQ is the best value for your money out there IMO. Love it and will be adding more to my arsenal! Quote
