10 foot aluminum.  Also how much can it hold with passengers and gear?  last year we had it with about 500lbs of gear and people just fine.  It didn't have the seats on it though.  The trolling motor did well and had no stability issues.  Just curious as to how much it weighs in this picture with the battery, trolling motor, fish finder, seats, and the rod holders are like a pound each.

I checked multiple mfgs. Maximum weight capacity for their 10ft jons ranges between 275-365lbs. That's people, gear, motors, etc. Also all the mfgs list 3hp as the max rated for the boats.

Average that will be in it with me and wife and daughter or one or the other is about 400 with gear at most and solo and gear maybe 300. How much does the boat look like it weighs now? Just curious.

There is no way to know what that specific boat weighs from a picture.  If yo uare really that concerned with teh weight then load it up in your truck with all your gear that you would be using and go to a truck stop or soemthing that can weigh your vehicle.  Weigh the vehicle, take out all your stuff and the difference is your boat weight.

There should also be a USCG tag I believe that may have some of the other information you are looking for.

In that case as pictures it's probably about 250lbs. My goal is to keep the weight in the boat with gear and passenger under 400. I've had more but I don't want to risk it.

I'm not "concerned", just curious. When it was bare I could carry that thing myself by the side easily. There are no tags or anything on it. I did however guesstimate the boat bare at 100 pounds and with all the stuff on it in the picture I figured about 250. I just may carry it canoe style. Lol

Yikes! That front seat looks less than appealing to have to sit in...

If you are hinting that it is too close to the end, the boat has already passed that test.  When I fish solo I obviously sit in the back at the motor.  I walked to the front on the water and sat there by myself also.  No issues and both seats are very plush.  With two people, the passenger at the front is fine there as well.  Actually quite "appealing" and comfortable too....

And why is that?

probably because it is nearly hanging over the front of the boat... I would be quite nervous about having 3 people in there loaded down with an outboard/trolling motor and battery/gas tank and fishing gear.  Especially if one of those people was a young child. If you hit a 5-10mph breeze the wrong way I would imagine things could get pretty hairy in a hurry.  The biggest issue I see is that those seats raise your center of gravity, which translates to the boat being more prone to tipping and rocking. Just my observations though.

Do yourself a favor here bud and accept this boat for what it is. Its an introduction into getting off the land and nothing more. I would not add a motor if you want to take your child, maybe a set of oars. The weight savings on motors and batteries alone will be quite a bit.

Save any money you think you want to put into this for 2 years and use this boat for two years. Sell it for whatever you paid in two years, add it to what you saved and you will have a real bass boat.

Leaving the boat as is. Just a trolling motor and what you see. Two people tops. Unless my six year old sits on the middle bench. Buying a nitro or a ranger in the next few months.

Good call. Then you'll be able to get on the tournament trail without the handicap of a 10' boat.

I will definitely have to keep a picture of it next to the steering wheel. Lol

As crazy as it sounds I have grown quite attached to this little monster. You guys can see the before and after pictures in this thread section too. It was actually a lot of fun. ;-). I believe the original thread is titled my first boat project.

Good call dude. Wouldnt put too much effort in it. Save up and getcha a Tracker or G3. Theres alot of good used boats on Raleigh and Eastern NC Craigs List.

Teal, I found some good deals on Raleigh Craigslist. Will definitely keep my project boat. Like I said, my daughter and I put a bunch of time into it. And who ever said more than one boat is a bad thing ;-)
