Gonna get a Veritas rod for jig and plastics, thiking 7' MH. Now, do I get the micro guides or regular? I just dont know. Ive never tried the micro guides, so I dont know what the difference is in them. I plan on doing more casting than pitching, but there will be quite a bit of pitching too. Does that make any difference? Their just so dang small. Thanks guys.

my 7' MH has the micro guides. I do alot of casting and pitching with it and can't really tell a difference in the guides.  The micro guides do cut down a little on the weight. It is a pretty sensitive rod too!!  I think you will like them. Let us know what you think!

If you get a micro guide Veritas, and I speak from experience, go to the store and buy it. The guides on the micro version are really a mixed bag, as some rods have nice straight guides, and others will have laughably bad guide placement and centering. Another problem with the Veritas guides is the expoxy around them is sometimes cracked. So just make sure you give it a once over before you plunk down the cash. It's a d**n fine rod for the money though, it just has some head scratching QC problems.

Microguides have some advantages - usually said to be lighter rod weight, increased casting distance, and increased sensitivity. How much of that is real, and how much is theoretical, has been the subject of some debate.

Microguides also have several issues.  If you fish braid with a leader, there may be an issue with the leader knot flowing through the microguides.  If you fish in sub-freezing weather, microguides will ice-up faster than conventional guides. Microguides may also potentially get fouled by slop that is carried up to the guides on the line.

Thanks guys. I plan on getting the Rod at the store, so I will definately check the epoxy and guides to make sure they are in order. I also dont planon using it too much in nasty water, sub freezing water, and I dont use braid too often, so I think the rod should do well for me. I appreciate the help guys!

I got one on Friday. I returned it on Monday.  Leader knot drove me crazy.  They added more guides, I imagine to compensate for the lines proximity to the blank, they had to.  6'6" it had 9 guides and tip.  It made the rod feel dead.

I've got 6 Veritas micro guide rods; all ordered online through TW or BTD and have yet to have an issue with the guides.

Just my experience, and I agree that these are a great product for the money.

I have several an love them. I have never had an issue fishing in the slop with micro guides the tip eye catches all the grass and junk. Just like it does with a rod that has regular guides.

One thing that hasnt been mentioned is if your eyesight isnt the greatest they can be a little tough to run your line through. I dont have a problem but my dad has a hell of a time unless he has his glasses with him.

I cant speak for the veritas but the duckett micro guide rods are amazing. The only down fall i have found is the guides getting a little icy this winter. but a quick dunk in the water every now and then has seemed to fix that problem
