Duckslayer2095 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Like the title says, I went ahead and ordered an 853c NRX dealer demo for $350. This is my first high end rod so I'm pretty pumped! I was just wondering if anyone has any sweet words of justification they want to say. After getting caught up in the moment I'm now suffering from the money spending hangover! Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The first time you cast it you will no longer regret the money, especially at that price. The first time you catch a fish on it you'll start saving for the next one. Quote
fl_bass Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Just smile as you say to yourself "Here fishy fishy" Quote
FourCorners Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I was in the same boat as you earlier this winter but I got the 852. I've only fished it once, but it feels awesome and managed a 5#er first fish. Like the others have said, you won't regret it once you fish it. As much as I'd like to get another one, I just can't justify it. I think one's enough for me! Enjoy your rod. Just wondering what rods you're upgrading from? Quote
Duckslayer2095 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Thanks for the words guys! I feel a little better now. I currently use carrot stix, st. croix mojo, and a bunch of sub $100 rods. I started off looking at rods in the 150-200 dollar range and just kept going a little higher, then a little more, and then for just this much more I could get this or that rod, all the way up getting this! thehooligan Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Congrats on your purchase. When i bought my first cumulus i truly understood why these rods are so expensive, there works of art... Quote
FourCorners Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Haha, nice. That's a pretty big jump. If you don't already fish it, pick up some fluorocarbon as well and that rod'll really shine. I'm a fan of invisx because of the price and manageability of the line. Again, enjoy! Quote
Maico1 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Congrats....you will not be disappointed and enjoy your new stick. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted February 25, 2013 Super User Posted February 25, 2013 You will love the 853, it will open your eyes to what true sensitivity is in a fishing rod. You may hae a little buyers remorse now, but I am willing to bet it will be all gone the first chance you have to use your new rod. Quote
Diggy Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I need to fish a high end rod to see what Im missing...maybe I can talk a friend into buying one. Enjoy your purchase! Quote
skeletor6 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 The rod will justify itself. No worries, buy once cry once. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 As long as you're paying your bills, saving some money and not going into debt I say spend the money and regret nothing. Life is too short for that sort of thing. Besides, as others have said in this thread, the first time you use it you won't think of the money you spent Quote
bassinbrian Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 problem is once you see how much of a pleasure it is to fish with a high end rod...when you go and pick up your others & use them your going to go yuck and wish all your sticks felt the same its all down hill from here, you started going down an expensive road now, so just enjoy the ride Well said Quote
