stragglyaphid1 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I plan on fishing the Rage Rig and went to my local BPS to look for the Moaner 1/4 oz 5/0 Stroker weighted hook. They did not have them but they did have the Gamakatsu 1/4 oz 5/0 weighted superline spr-lock hooks. Just by looking at the pictures of both, they look pretty much identical. Since I will be fishing tomorrow I don't have the luxury of waiting for them to be delivered. I went ahead and purchased the Gamakatsu's but wanted to get some feedback on if they will "act" like the Moaner brand. I know the Moaner's were made espectially for this purposes, but was just curious. If it is going to be different I don't mind fishing something different and getting the "real thing" delivered to me for a later date. Thanks in advance for the advice. Quote
kylek Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I am pretty sure that your Gammies will work just fine. Good luck!! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 25, 2013 Super User Posted February 25, 2013 You will be fine, I have used both brands. Quote
stragglyaphid1 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 I was concerned that the Gamkatsu's would not fall/sink the same. Thanks to you both for the input! Quote
gripnrip Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I was thinking the same thing. I've spent all my cash for now. I will purchase the Gammies before my tourny in March. When I get some cash flow I'll order the Moaner's and see which one I like the best. Quote
TNBassin' Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 I use Gammy swimbait hooks and never had a problem at all with them. I think the brand of hook matters very little nowadays, as almost all of them will get the job done. Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Just to let you guys know I offer a weighted hook for Rage Rigging. I offer 4/0 or 5/0 size hook in multiple weights. http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/weighted-hooks Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 26, 2013 Super User Posted February 26, 2013 Oops! I'm one of your biggest fans. I guess I need to do my homework a little better. I didn't know you offered the weighted hooks. Quote
