black and blue lures

I hearing that black and blue jigs are one of if not the best color for a jig. I haven't been able to catch anything on them. I useally fish them in dirty water like everyone says they are good for. I have good luck on watermelon,green pumpkin,and browns just not the black and blue anyone else have this problem

Ya know..I'm in the same boat. natrual colors work well, but as soon as I tie on a black & blue, with or w/o a trailer..nada...everything is the same. I go back to my blurgill colored jig, and bam..the fish hit it..???

I find they work better in clearer water. As mentioned, use greens/browns/black in dirty water.

Same here..................i have NEVER caught one on a black/blue jig. My best producer is a brown and green jig with a tad of chartreuse and a green pumpkin 4" Chigger craw. Usually in 3/8oz size jig. Clear or dirty water, natural works best for me.

Speaking of jigs, and not to highjack this thread..but any of you guys tried the "Dirty Jigs" TW carries them, some great colors to choose from imho.

There's no one best color, because the best color keeps changing

with lighting conditions (underwater visibility).

Yep, I will 2 X. I put in a order when they had the 20% off weekend sale! I just thought I would buy a few to see and check out the skirts and paint on the heads! Well I know I will be buying MANY more! Best jig that I have seen so far! And I have a ton of jigs!

I don't understand it either. I can catch bass on black and blue soft plastics but not on the jig.

I find that it depends on the day.

I usually have 2 jigs tied on to start, one black and blue and the other a natural green. Usually I can get a bite on one or the other and then fine tune from there.

YES! I have the same dilemma! I've caught tons of bass on brown and greens, but only a handful on black n blue! I have noticed the black works sometimes in clear water, but doesnt produce the same numbers for me. I did catch 3 catfish on black jigs though! Earlier this year I got a 5lb LMB on a black Eakins Jig, so I still toss it when all else fails...

In general, I've had great better luck with contrasting colored jigs and trailers than when I match em up. :-?

It may be the food source in your area has a different hue than a black and blue jig does. Crawfish have almost a rainbow of colors depending on a large number of factors. I live on the Delmarva Peninsula (Chesapeake Bay) and black and blue jigs with same color trailer produce above almost all colors. Jigs are my favorite baits to fish and I experiment with all color combinations to try to be a better fisherman.Good luck on the water guys.
