Actually saw partial open water on Friday. We got a lot of rain today and looking at more rain later in the week and 40* weather...my guess, 3 weeks I can fish somewhere.

Those tailspins look gd,bet the smallies love em.  Purchased alot of leadfree heads from Mike last yr,makes quality stuff,at a gd price.

Hey gramps, long time no hear! I trust all is well my friend!

 

I just bought the heads from GMAN and tied the skirts and blades in.

 

We'll have to get thread started up for the MA Iceout Reports.

just out of curiosity, have any of you guys in ma ever been checked on whether you are using lead jigs or not ?

In over 50 years of fishing, I've only been approached by an EPO three times! Since the lead ban last year, I don't think any EPO really focused on checking for this - yet. I believe they held off, waiting until enough non-lead product has become readily available. And it appears, after visiting Dick's, that there is plenty of non-lead jigs & sinkers on the shelves now. So don't be surprised if an EPO does start ask to see what you are using. Remember, it is NOT illegal to be in possession of lead...you just cannot be using it when you are approached.
