I'm Not A Spinner Guy Need A Rod Suggestion?

Like the title says I'm not a spinning real guy but my buddy is, he's new to bass fishing as far as getting more in depth and all he has ever used was a spinner, based on reviews I suggested he go with the PQ spinning reel via reel trade in. So now we got the rod trade in coming soon, what would be a good rod to pair with this reel? Lets say keep it under a $100 before discount.

I spin a lot.  I love Fenwick but BPS doesn't carry it.  Look in the Shimano Line.  I believe you can get the Clarus line for your price range and if you have any play in the $$$ @all....look at the Compre's.  Fantastic!!!!

Does it have to be from BPS?  Look at Cabela's Prodigy, *** *** Black, Falcon Original, Daiwa T or Ballistic, Okuma EVX-A, Denali Jadewood, Lew's Laser SL Speed Stick, Temple Fork Outfitters Gary Loomis Signature Series, St. Croix Premier...whew...just to name a few.

 

I have a couple Falcon Original casting rods and like them a lot.  Pretty sensitive for the money.  The *** Black was highly thought of by TT for its price.  Several have told me the Prodigy is an excellent rod.  Owning a Prodigy b/c reel, I wouldn't be leery about trying a Prodigy rod...especially considering who 2 of the guys were that recommended them to me.  One for sure can afford any rod his heart desires.  I am also a fan of Fenwick rods owning both spinning and b/c versions.  I picked a Daiwa Jupiter casting rod over a Falcon Bucoo after trying both out at Walmart.  Wasn't totally fair since the Bucoo was 6'6" vs the Jupiter 7', but I did use the same reel and weight on both for testing.  Bucoo may be more sensitive, but that wasn't my primary concern in picking this rod.

I have a Diawa S Finesse spinning rod, which according to the bass pro website they do not have anymore. I also have an old Bass Pro bionic blade which has been golden for me. I really like Bass Pro rods (Not reels). I think the Extreme and bionic blades are both really nice rods that are pretty light and sensetive. I would suggest an extreme or bionic blade

I picked up a CarbonLite at BPS yesterday along with a PQ spinner.  The rod feels great.  I got the 6'8" MXF.  They've got plenty of actions and lengths.  By itself, it would have been $89, marked down from $99.  Next weekend, with the rod trade in deal, you can do even better.

If it has to come from BPS, I would get the Compre CPS68MHC. It's a good all around rod spec-wise and I think the compre line of rods is pretty good. It's not too geared towards one type of style. Not too long, not too short, not super heavy power but not super light either. It's perfect for someone new because it's pretty versatile. It has a warranty that he can use in-store in BPS if something goes wrong. I don't really know what BPS has other than what they put on their site which is why I chose that one. I have to buy online from them because the nearest one is 3 hours away.

My choice would be a St. Croix Mojo Bass Wacky Rod. It's a 6'8 M with an XF tip.

I wouldn't trade mine for anything. At 100 bucks, it's tough to beat.

Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth M/XF 

 

Light, sensitive and it performs well above its price-point. They can be found for about $100 easily.

Bait casting or spinning rod you should pick a rod that suits how you fish, what line return nd wht weight lures you plan to use. Gary Yamamoto for example only uses spinning tackle and there is a wide variety of rods to choose from.

Need a little more input before making a suggestion.

There is a spinning rod made for nearly every type of application and species in wide price range.

Well he got his new rod, nothing on the list ha, after trying the others he picked up an Abu Vendetta and decided he liked it best. I decided if he liked it probably really can't go wrong with a rod he picked out on his own.
