Matthew Veillion Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Anybody own one or has used one and want to give me an opinion on them? Im thinking about the 6'8" cranking rod for squarebills and shallow runners. They are on sale at TW for $37. Any help appreciated! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 I had the 7'M and for a $50 rod it was nice! Quote
EvanT123 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I have the spinning version. It's a nice rod. FWIW I checked out the casting models and couldn't find one with straight guides. With the sales at TW I'd think about stepping up a level or two. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 $37 for a Sellus is a pretty darned good price -- and I'd hit that hard if the Sellus perfectly met your needs -- though like Et525i said, they must have better rods on sale as well for the price that you'd normally pay for a Sellus. I'm annoyed because I bought a Sellus at full price just a few weeks ago for my topwater set-up. If I had only waited! Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 FWIW I have a 7 MH casting rods with perfectly straight guides. (Guess I got one of the only good ones) Good rods for the price. At $37 they are great rods. Quote
EvanT123 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 One more thing to think about at TW you get free shipping over 50 bucks. So at 37 plus shipping it does make sense to step up a level to get the free shipping. Quote

Matthew Veillion Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 I dont wanna spend much, how much better is the clarus for $59.99 after 25% off? Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Lifetime warranty on the clarus, only a year on the sellus. I have two of the clarus rods. No complaints. 1 Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 Though I haven't fished a Sellus, I've held and compared them a number of times to the Clarus, other rods. I have found them a tad on the heavy side. That's purely my opinion. It is a fine rod for the money. But for less $, I would think the Berkely Lightning Shock is a lighter rod. 1 Quote

Thats what I think too, last year when looking for a couple cheaper rods, I just wasn't impressed with the Sellus or Convergance, but the Lightning Rod Shock has been a pleasant suprise in that price range. B@ssCrzy Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I would step up to the Clarus. With the TW sale that is a good rod with a lifetime warranty. Plus like previously said it will get you the free shipping as well. Quote
