Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 22, 2013 Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2013 I found a brand new in the box Curado 200E7 that I can get for 150.00. [never owned one] As of tomorrow with a reel trade in, we can get a Revo S with cent brakes only also for 105.00 [have last years model] a JM sig with dbs [which I love] for 114.00, or a PQ with dbs [a lot heavier but also really like] for 65.00. If cost was not a factor, and you needed another reel, which would you do... Mike Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 It would depend on what it's main use would be. The E7 brings in close to 29ipt, and it is a heck of a nice reel. FWIW I bought my NIB E series for 159, so it's not that great of a deal. Cost not a factor and I needed high speed probably the Curado. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 Which one is a Shimano? Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 2 pqs beats 1 shimano any day. Quote
skeletor6 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I would go with the curado. Two reels in completely different price ranges though. Two reels is only better than one if you need two. Quote
TNBassin' Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Don't underestimate the S. Great little reel. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 2 pqs beats 1 shimano any day. LgMouthGambler must be gettin' spittin' mad about now. I'm ducking for cover! 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 22, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks Fella's I need a new one to pair with my Fenwick Techna I use for plactics. The ipt which was my first consideration for all 3 are fairly close to each other, too close for me to just use that as the deciding factor. 7:1 Curado is 29" 7:1 PQ is 29" 6:4 only Revo S has 26 7:1 JM 31" [6:4 has 28] As I said, I have a PQ, a JM, and last years S that I use every outing, Tourn or just messing around Since I'm really not brand loyal, just what to match combos for ease and efficiency for each technique.... I'll probably go for the Curado as I don't have one, the E's will become very scarce in the near future, and since they are spoken of very highly here. Time to go to bed...I'm deciding this as I'm typing!! Thanks for the replies.. Mike Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 Cost aside, Curado. Cost considered, PQ. x2 Quote
RyneB Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 1 daiwa lexa I second that. Im a die hard Abu guy, but if money wasnt an issue, all my Revos besides my Premier and MGX would be swapped for Lexas. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 The Curado is a great reel and you can't go wrong with it. But the JM Reel for $114 is a really great deal and a very nice reel, just a little bigger and heavier. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 $150 for a left over E7 is about the going rate, not a super deal but not bad. When they first went on clearance I bought them for $98. The Revo S is a comparable reel and more of a discount. Bang for the buck wise The PQ is a real value at $65. All are serviceable with slight feature differences. It comes down to your own priorities. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 22, 2013 Author Global Moderator Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks Fellers Mike Quote
