Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 It would seem I have the monkey on my back again. With the low prices of Loomis rods (lol) I was thinking about getting either a GLX or a NRX. I'm looking at the 7'1 M Jig/worm rod but I'm not sure which one to get . I checked the Loomis site but didn't find allot of info. Does anyone have the 7'1 M or advise on another Loomis rod? Quote

What do you want this rod to do.....It looks to me like you are way up in the air. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 22, 2013 Author Super User Posted February 22, 2013 I am, I think it's just the Monkey telling me I need another rod! Since Black Friday I've got 6 new Croix rods. I honestly cant think of a rod I need but if I had to have another duplicate it would be a 7'5'' mh Jig rod or a 7'1''m worm rod however I have a new 7'6'' Legend for jigs and a 7'1'' MHX high mod Micro Worm rod. Like I said I really don't NEED another rod but... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 22, 2013 Super User Posted February 22, 2013 Hmm... Bass Blvd says comparing the NRX to a GLX is lkie comparing a GLX to a 2X4. Quote

You may want to let the Monkey rest for awhile because if you do get an NRX you will want another and another....They truly are a very sensitive stick. Since you like the 7'1' why don't you start there with the 853 JWR.....Now if you are looking for a CrankBait Rod take a look at the new GLX just picked up a 783 and a 785, very impressed. Quote
skeletor6 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Actually the new GLX's are very nice rods. The changes they made from previous versions has made the new GLX's a much stronger competitor to the NRX then in the past. With the glx line, you also get more exotic flavors such as the 894 and 895. With that said, if you are looking to get a 3 powered rod I would go NRX and get the 893c. Its the best rod in their lineup imho. If you want something with more backbone I would get the GLX 894. I have 4 NRX's and my next buy will be a GLX. Something about the 7'5" rods that loomis makes is just an absolute joy to fish with. You're talking effortless casting and loads of sensitivity. Quote
upnorthbassin Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I think there's more variety in the GLX line. That being said...I would really like a NRX 853. If someone else is buying, I'll take a GLX 843CBR to go along with it too! Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted February 24, 2013 Author Super User Posted February 24, 2013 I had my mind made up to trade up a Croix Legend I don't like for an Extreme. However I went to Cabelas to look for a new generator and they had a few NRXs to play with and I fell in love with the 852 NRX! They didn't have any Extremes to compare it to but it was a TON lighter in the tip than the Legend I compared it to. Needles to say I have a 852 NRX on the way to my house!!! Thanks for the help guys. Quote
