Stairway To Kevin Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I'm looking for 2 piece casting rods to keep in my car since my 1 piece rods take up 1/2 my sedan. Any suggestions on rods you have liked or disliked? Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 21, 2013 Super User Posted February 21, 2013 Tackle Warehouse has Abu Garcia rods which they offer in 2 piece for around $50. The Abu Garcia Vengenance 2 Piece. http://www.***.com/Abu_Garcia_Vengeance_2-piece_Casting_Rods/descpage-AVC2.html I bought one for the exact same reason. I also bought an Ugly Stick 2 piece BC just because. 1 Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 I have been looking also. The damiki 2 piece looked really good. I find it hard to buy a rod that I can't hold however. I bought a tournament classic 7' fiberglass rod from academy for $14.95 to use for treble lures. It works great for that. Not a great worm rod though so I needed a graphite. I settled on the quantum response 7' and couldn't be happier. It's got Eva split grips and micro guides. Defiantly worth a look. Quote
SudburyBasser Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 This was a curse to me last month because I was looking for a high quality casting rod but "settled" for being two technique specific Compre rods. It was a pain bringing them home because I had to fold down the seats in my Jeep. Of course, not a horrible problem to have I suppose. At any rate, because of this I'm tempted to repurpose that awful Ugly Stik I have with an old Shimano spinning reel for the every day carry rod and reel I was going to keep in the back in case I drove by a lake and felt the urge to do some shore fishing. Super User Felix77 Posted February 21, 2013 Super User Posted February 21, 2013 It needs to be able to put up with being in the trunk for long periods. I wouldn't do that with my quality rods. Besides its only for those emergency fishing monents. Any other time I would bring some better stuff. 1 Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 21, 2013 Super User Posted February 21, 2013 I'm looking for 2 piece casting rods to keep in my car since my 1 piece rods take up 1/2 my sedan. Any suggestions on rods you have liked or disliked? I agree with what Felix is saying, my two piece one that stays in the car all the time are my Shimano Zirca (6'6" Medium/F) and Gorilla Stik (6'6" M/M). They both are cheap combos, Shimano Zirca spinning reel and Shimano Solstace. You don't want your expensive setup to bang around in your trunk. Quote
Stairway To Kevin Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 I would get cases for my equipment so they don't end up in more than 2 pieces so i'm not worried about banging them up Quote

fl_bass Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Sell the car and buy a Subaru. Lol I keep 7' rods in there all the time and I have 2 car seats. Quote
alexandboi Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Take a look at the shimano compre line. They have a few of them in 2-piece. I own a casting and spinning model and they're both pretty good in my opinion. Quote
papajoe222 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 If you'd like to get into building a rod, Cabellas has a two piece 6'6" Med/fast Pacific Bay kit they're closing out for only $20. Everything is included and you can make do with a cardboard box with a couple of V groves cut in it for wrapping the guides. I believe they're IM7 blanks. Anyway, I built two Pacific Bay rods over the winter for the same reasons and picked up a couple of these to throw together for the kids. A simple one color thread wrap on the guides and you could put one together in an evening. Quote
