Littlewing29 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I have a 20 lb braid on my baitcaster. I was wondering what size leader should I use. I feel pretty confident with 20lb braid and haven't had any snapped lines. (knock on wood) I bought previously a 17lb flurocarbon line and I'm wondering if that is too heavy with the 20lb braid. Also if I should use monofilament or fluorocarbon as a leader with my braid. Thanks a lot Counting down the days to spring. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Posted February 20, 2013 I like 10lb Fluoro as my leader material. I use the Sufix and have been really happy with it. Quote
Super User Solution BassinLou Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Solution Posted February 20, 2013 It depends on what the application that setup is going to be used for. I would use if it was my set up, 12lb.-15lb Yozuri max. Quote
thehooligan Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Depends on what kind of fishing your doing, on a baitcaster it would be anywhere from 8-12lb leaders for me. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Posted February 20, 2013 For me, between 6-15lb. The thicker the leader, the bigger the knot to go thru your top guide. FWIW... I have used 50 lb mono leader when striper fishing on my Daiwa Lexa. Quote
