MojoGarcia Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I'm having fun with plastics. but I'd like to know when i need to use a rage craw versus a sweet beaver (or simular baits). aint they all just plastic? sure ones got action and one doesnt, but does it matter if both are going to work? Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 7, 2010 Super User Posted April 7, 2010 Different animals, shure a beaver can be fished weighted, rigged in many ways and used as trailer, the same applies to the craw but the beaver does what the craw doesn 't, and viceversa the beaver when rigged unweighted backwards ( inserting the hook in between the flaps ) & allowed to sink on a slightly slack line sinks away from you, the craw doesn 't do that. I like the craw because of the shape of the claws, with a good rod you can feel the vibration of the claws as it moves through the water, so it 's an excellent low visibility environment water ( stained/ muddy/ murky ). mrbassky Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 The craw has a better swimming action and puts out more vibration. The sweet beaver is similar to a tube if you ask its strength is the way it glides thru the water. I would use the craw in swimming presentations and when I am fishing muddy water. Some days I wouldnt expect a huge difference in which gets bit better but I would try both when possible. Quote
Blue Streak Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Raul nailed it exactly. Two different creatures. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted April 7, 2010 Super User Posted April 7, 2010 Rage craw anytime, beaver never. Let the trash fly. Quote
kikstand454 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Rage craw anytime, beaver never. Let the trash fly. that is awesome... i hope eveyone takes that advice... so i can go behind them with a beaver and clean up!!! to the o.p. i tend to through rage craws around dirty water and wood cover. i like to throw beavers around grass. Super User RoLo Posted April 7, 2010 Super User Posted April 7, 2010 Gosh, that's like comparing a pigeon to a groundhog I fish lures like the sweet beaver, on or close to bottom with a subtle delivery (actually I prefer the Ugly Otter). The rage claw has remarkably active claws which is great for cranking-&-gliding in midwater (actually I prefer the Rage Lobster). But as always in fishing...it's different strokes for different folks. Roger Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 8, 2010 Super User Posted April 8, 2010 Rage craw anytime, beaver never. Let the trash fly. I'll start the trash flying I totally agree, I never caught a single fish on a beaver type lure & for that matter I've never had a single bump with one. Now on to the Rage Tail Craw I've great success with this bait as a jig trailer but limited success as a Texas Rig. My greatest success by far has came on a Rage Tail Lobster both as jig trailers or Texas Rigged. Quote
