I am looking for a good rod and reel combo for this upcoming spring.  Any Suggestions?  And also which color of plastic worms work well in clear to murky water?

There are so many good colors that arbitrary choices probably have to be made. Just as an example, you probably can't go wrong with black in the murky water and pumpkinseed or watermelon in clear. And any of those colors will also work in the other water clarity.

Worms? Me? I'd choose natural colors like green pumpkin with black flakes, watermelon with black flakes, black, etc.

If you're looking for an all around setup I'd go for a 6'6" rod in a Medium or Medium/Heavy and line it up with 8 or 10lb. test monofilament. I'd really go medium/heavy on the rod if you're going to use it for a worm rod.

 

On the worms, I'd agree with the above suggestions and also recommend blue w/metal fleck and motor oil or black/smoke colors. 

 

And like Jig Meister recommends read the articles he linked to. They will answer many of your questions.

The generic answer is "the same rig you use for other soft plastics". Mine is a St. Croix

Green pumpkin is a versatile color for clear to dirty water.

They say in shallow, murky water go with the brighter colors, like your chartreuses etc. And the deeper it gets the darker your bait should get, and in the clearer water you use your brighter baits. This is just what ive heard... I have fairly clear water where I fish and I use the most natural colors I can find. Watermelon is also a very versatile color.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming. Now I bought a Abu Garcia black max rod and reel combo, and used Berkley Trilene XL Armor Coated 10lb test. They didn't have any of the rods listed because they were out of stock. I also bought zoom U-tail worms in these colors: Motor oil/chartreuse, watermelon, tequila green, chartreuse pepper and June bug. Any other brand that is better than zoom?

In murky/stained water, I've found that chartreuse out performs any other color but maybe black. Just in my experience.

I like greens, and browns in clear water.  Black, blue, and junebug in murky water.
