Topwaterspook Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Is there any advantage to using this conditioner on braid ? It's not even mentioned on the spray bottle................thanks . Quote
bassh8er Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I wouldn't think so, but am interested in what people have to say. I've personally never felt the need to use it on braid because it is already so limp and easy to cast. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 The night before a tournament I soak my lines in this stuff. That includes the braided line. It makes more of a difference on Fluoro and Mono though. Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 Works especially great on UL mono lines. Soak the spool the night before you go out by hand lining off about a cast length....soaking...reeling it back on....soaking again. You'll cast a county mile after it has time to penetrate the surface of the mono. No so sure it's an advantage with braid though. 1 Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 I tried it just for kicks, but didn't notice anything. Quote
BradH Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 About the only advantage I have found on braid is when it's cold the line doesn't ice up and get stiff quite as bad and it might cast ever so slightly farther. The effects wear off pretty quick though. For me, fishing in the winter it is worth it. I'm using Armor All on braid so the KVD stuff might be better or not as good. Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 I use it and I see little difference on my braid. Before i starting using braid as a mainline on most my rods, i used fluoro and mono as the majority of my mainlines. I saw great results on the fluoro and mono. I had fewer backlashes when casting into the wind. I didnt get many twists in the line. The line seems to come off easier nad has a bit more softness to it. They say it conditions the line and helps it lasts longer and i think it does too. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 As for Yo-Zuri, I ALWAYS apply KVD to it, whether it soaks in or not, it does make a noticeable difference in the line. Also, I see no need to apply it to braid, the advantage I can think of is color retention but maybe not. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 It helps the braid hold it's color longer. 2 Quote

I would not be without this L&L cond.! I have done seminars and at the start of the seminar I would spray one reel with it and the same reel without it and at the end of the seminar,,people were shocked at the reel that I sprayed> All the memory was gone. georgeyew Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I just got some KVD line conditioner last week, and I treated my spinning reel (with Suffix Elite 10lb) 3 times (5 sprays to cover the whole spool). When I pull the line off, I still see loops and coils. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to soak the spool with more conditioner? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 Did you let it dry and setup? Was treated with something else previously? I generally pretreat my filler spools. Then I reapply after a day's fishing. It's doesn't start working until it's dry and set up. Quote
Jig Meister Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I dont know if it works on braid, but I put that crap on errythang! 1 Quote

Baddy Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I havnt noticed any effects with the kvd on braid, but from my experience the reel magic spray does wonders on braid! Quote

It sounds like your trouble is how you put the line on and not the L&L cond.? When you put your line on it may have twisted off of the filler spool. When that happens just turn the spool over. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted February 18, 2013 Super User Posted February 18, 2013 I spray it on my car and I now can go 30% futher. Just kidding,I love the stuff and I spray it on ALL my reels. Quote

jignfule Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Seems to do a good job on mono, fc, not worth it for me on braid. Quote

SudburyBasser Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I tried it just for kicks, but didn't notice anything. Ditto. I'm respooling my reels soon and I doubt I'll spend the time using it for the ones with braid on it. Quote
The Rooster Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I put it on all lines. Heck, I even apply it to the line guides with a Q-tip. I figure it might dry there and help lubricate the surface for less resistance. If nothing else, it seems to work in removing residue build up in the guides when I clean my rods. 2 Quote

I clean my rods and guides with pledge. Makes them nice and sleek. As for the KVD conditioner.....just like that Hot Sauce commercial..."I put that s@#% on everything". Quote
