KevO Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Fishing a club tx here next weekend, we're launching from Natchez Trace. Anyone got a report or an idea where to start? Quote
Morlok Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I am new to this forum, but live clase to Pickwick. Right now the Alabama rig is king. Main Lake gravel pionts or secondary points---its all good. Just tie it on and slow roll it! Quote

lazeebum Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Guess I am gonna have to break down and buy a rig. Never have spooled up with heavy line, but I may as well adapt. Quote
KevO Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Rig / Jerkbait / Trap are already rigged up and ready to go. Quote
KevO Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 The fishing was tough, we didn't have a bite after the sun finally came out. Luckily, no one else had a good day either and my 2 fish for 10# took home the win as well as my 6.13 LM took big bass too! Both fish came on the A-rig w/ rage tail grubs. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 24, 2013 Super User Posted February 24, 2013 Congrats on the win! What kind of water/structure did you catch them? We are headed out first thing in the am. Jeff Quote
KevO Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 we fished creek channel ledges and flats in the mid lake area. Finding bait was the key and we only found it in one spot all day where I caught the fish. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 24, 2013 Super User Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks. Headed out now. Jeff Quote
lazeebum Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks for sharing kevo. Bait was hard to find yesterday. Friday, I did manage to put three good brown fish in the boat. I was using Fat Albert grubs on a 3/8 oz lead head. I mainly fish the tail race area. From the Trace Bridge to Wilson dam. Quote
KevO Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 We launched from Waterloo and the only place that we found bait was right there by the bridge next to the ramp. Quote
lazeebum Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I do love Pickwick this time of year. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 25, 2013 Super User Posted February 25, 2013 Nice smallie! We fished hard today. Stained water and LOW, compared to what we are used to. About 4-5 feet lower than normal. Shad were non-existent, at least we couldn't find em. We did pick up 20 fish today, ALL on shakey heads. In the morning we found them in 20-25 fow and then by afternoon they were in 10-15. Water temps started about 47 and rose to a max of 52. My best 5 wouldn't have beat your 2, and neither would my partners. Now put them together and maybe....... Tough Jeff Quote
brianwhite Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Nicest one of the day, caught a few more but none to brag about Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 25, 2013 Super User Posted February 25, 2013 Nicest one of the day, caught a few more but none to brag about Nice one! Was that today? What did you catch it on and where on the lake? Jeff Quote
brianwhite Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Yea was out on the main river in about 20' on the a rig Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted February 25, 2013 Super User Posted February 25, 2013 Nice! Were you closer to Pickwick dam or Wilson? I heard a couple reports of a little cleaner water and better fishing towards Wilson this weekend. Jeff Quote
KevO Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 The water was pretty clear around the trace bridge. We fished from there down about 15 miles. Quote
lazeebum Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I guess a couple of A rigs are in my future. Nice fish! Quote
KevO Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 They sure do catch fish! Though after thinking about it, I think I could have caught more fish with a spoon. Quote
