Super User Redlinerobert Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 Holy moly. My 2011 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 Diesel will hit 50,000 miles this week. This is easily, the best truck I've ever had. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 Being in the metals business I've had quite a few trucks that were always busy on the road and took a beating, but that is what they are designed for. Glad I don't have to pay to fix them anymore, overhauling a Mack diesel ain't cheap, lol. When it comes to my personal every day vehicles, I don't want a lot of miles on them. My wife could care less about a car, an accord or camry is her choice and she puts low mileage, she keeps them about 7 years and may have 50,000. For me being in or around trucks all day I want to be in a luxury car and get a new one about every 2 years, mileage seldom exceeds 30-35k, at present I have a 2012 Genesis, very well built car, I do miss my rag tops. Seldom exceeds 30-35K?! I bought my wife a '00 Chevy Cavalier in '03 that had been totaled and rebuilt. It only had 38K on the odometer and I was shocked. I didn't know they made cars with less than 150K! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 2010 GMC Sierra with >60K. Actually went into limp mode this morning. Apparently I need a new throttle body. I just had to replace the throttle body on my fiancee's 2004 GMC envoy. 2000 Subaru outback with about 160k or so. I sold my 95 wrangler 4cyl and it had about 175k and i just saw it driving around the other day so i guess it is still going strong. Quote

I've bought quite a few used med duty and hvy duty trucks as well as a hi-lo, only my first car in 1961 (57 ford) was bought used. I had a 3 day old 92 eldorado that was hit head on, insurance co fixed it instead of totaling it out, once I got the car back I traded it in, didn't want a car with a frame that was straightened. tallydude Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 I just got a new 2012 F-150 Supercrew 4x4 over Labor Day. I'm sitting on around 7,000 miles. Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted February 19, 2013 Super User Posted February 19, 2013 And the winner is....... Two around a million and three over half a million miles is amazing! I'd hate to have your gas bill a month! As far as the gas bill goes, the Berretta gets 27 mpg the F-250 gets 22 empty and 18 when towing the Camper, thats with no add on's, the 94 F-150 is the worst of the bunch with only 12mpg, the Mustang gets 22 to 27 depending on how it's driven, less if she gets the crap run out of her, the Jeep gets around 18 or so. Dang Nitro! You think you got your moneys worth yet? Lol Nope ! Ok Nitro - what's your secret? I thought I was doing well with my '99 F-250 with 230k on it, and even better when I had my '74 Camaro with 350,000 original miles on it (no rebuild). but you take the cake! How do you get them to last that long before a rebuild? It's easy, I service them regularly, I don't run the crap out of them, with the exception of the Mustang, the F-150 and F-250 rarely leaves the driveway without a trailer hooked to them and when I say trailer I mean they are loaded, both gets an oil change every 3,000 miles cause when I do drive them, they get worked, but I don't push them, I let them both climb at their own pace, each gets a trans service once a year with a complete flush, the F-250 always gets the winter off but I drive it once a week to keep everything lubed up and working, we can't help the fuel quality that we get from the pumps but she also gets a diesel fuel treatment every other tank full, same goes for all the rest of my vehicles, however hard they are worked they get the service they need, and at the time they need it, but I will say this much, like I said before, the fuels today are CRAP! they lead to carbon build up which leads to a lot of other things, the cleaner you can keep your fuel the healthier your engines will be, the cooler you can keep your fluids the healthier the powertrain will be. I will gather up some pics and let you guys see them, I will try to have them by the weekend for ya. 1 Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Posted February 20, 2013 I got a couple of pics last night before the sun went down, sorry about the pics but my cell just wont take good pictures at all. This is my F-150, we used to have a 27 ft camper, I pulled it with the Jeep for about a year, but we were limited as to where we could go, to make it short and sweet....the Jeep didn't like it, so I needed a truck, this truck originally came from Mass. This is our 96 Jeep, yes the same one that pulled the old camper, if you look you can see the back end of the Mustang and part of the camper we have, I tried to get a pic of the Mustang but they did not turn out at all, too dark. This is my F-250, I love this truck as much as I love my F-150 Quote
royal0014 Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 '91 Caprice, former cop car, just flipped 298k. Still makes 112 mile round-trip to work daily. Big, fugly, smokes up hills, and gets all kind of funny looks with a scrawny white boy driving Quote
Hanover_Yakker Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan (needed for the family primarily and the dogs) has close to 246K on it right now. I know another vehicle will be in my future at some point, especially with a newborn on the way. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Posted February 20, 2013 I have an '03 corolla that just hit 71000 miles. Practically brand new. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 20, 2013 Super User Posted February 20, 2013 I purchased a new truck Nov 2011, only has 20k on her, hoping she lasts a long long time. Quote

If it would not be for that signature noise I don't think you would be able to hear them running, Great cars in my opinion. 1 Quote

If it's not to late, try cleaning your IAC (idle air control). Jeep has just under 91,000, Catera has just over 92,000. Had a Tbird that had over 250,000 and my last jeep had just under 200,000.
