Reel Handle Grips

I have them on every reel, even my spinning reels. Even with fish slime only hands they don't slip. On a black and white combo, the black and white ones look freggin pimp!

I don't. Personally don't think I like the extra bulk added to the already decent-sized knobs on my Lexa.

I only use them on spinning reels. I don't care for them on casting reels.

This is only my opinion but I bet it is shared by many on this site. Your constant pushing of forum sponsors has a reverse effect on me than what you're going for. When you deviate from the thread to mention a sponsor, it seems less sincere and meaningful. Again, just my opinion. The OP was looking for help on a particular product, yet you find a way to slip in a plug. There is a difference between $4.99 Reel Grips and an $80 handle which does look like a great product, just different .

To the OP, I have the Reel Grips on my PQs and CuradoEs but keep them off my ProLite Finesses and Johnny Morris Carbonlite. The latter 2 reels have foam grips which I prefer to the Reel Grips.

You can find them in color combos to suit any of your needs and they do make it easier to handle when the reel gets wet.

I use them. I think they make for a more comfortable feel. The only thing is they dont work too good on the Shimano knobs that are the larger power grip design.

I have used them for the last 3 years and liked them. With that being said I am no longer using them because they are a little bulky and add weight to the reel. I did not notice until I took them off this past week when I was cleaning the reels. They also left the knobs with a black discoloration on them that I can't seem to get off. I will however continue to use them on my jig reel. That is the reason I went to them in the first place. I missed a good fish one time while it was raining because my hand slipped off the handle, they do help with that alot. Hope this helps!

I've never had a problem with the standard knobs and just going by the pictures that extra bulk would make it uncomfortable ( just an assumption ).

i don't have any but a friend of mine put them on his revos...after about a year, he decided to remove them but they left behind rib indentations on his knobs...even a year later, we could still see them. just something to be aware of.

Keep your Mend-it away from them. I had just used some, wiped my hand on my shorts and went on fishing. I guess I didn't get it all off and about 5 cranks of the reel noticed my finger was sinking into the grip... I melted a hole in it. Aside from that, maybe it's just me but no matter what reel they were on (citica b/e, curado e, zillion, Cardiff, pq, advantage, revos, or c3) they always slide inboard and sort of jam things up.

I have them on my PQ. Let me tell you, at first I was a little indifferent. I almost didn't like them, but I left them on and decided to get used to them which didn't take long. I've been using them for 2 years now and I took them off for the first time to see how I would like them on the new revo s.  Well let me tell you.....BOY does it feel awkward and nowhere near as nice with them off. I never would have know that had I taken them off to try on the revo but man, it sure does make a difference.

 

With that said, unless the reel comes with EVA knobs, every reel I have is gonna get these. I'm picking more up Friday at the start of the classic sale. Super worth it!

I had this happen to me as well. I used reel grips until recently; when I took the grips off and noticed rib marks/indentations on my knobs I quit using them. I'm switching over to foam knobs. I don't even think I'll use them on my flipping rod. The grips are comfortable and they help but it comes down to personal preference.

I wasn't suggesting the site didn't need either, and I actually commented on the OP's question, which you did not.

I have bought products as a direct result of being on this forum. I've never tried Rage, Northstar or Siebert before coming here and currently have a pending $200 order with Delaware Valley Tackle.

However, in my opinion, it has the opposite effect on the consumer when every post is a plug. LgMouthGamblr honestly makes me never want to pick up a Shimano reel, but i still recently bought a Curado 50e and 200e because I know they are a good product.

If you doubt it, just look at the number of 'Likes' that were on my original post. You can also search old posts before 'X' Company became a sponsor and find some very different opinions of their products from even the mods.

I was honestly trying to give honest feedback to help the mods so they can get better feedback and more sponsors because I do like this site and want to see it continue. Posts like, "Fishing an Eeeliminator from the back of the boat will out fish the guy in the front and everybody else on the lake" are not helpful.

In defense of RW, as a moderator he should be promoting the sponsors, they pay for the site, but the members are what makes BR fly and without us there would be no sponsors or Bass Resource.

 

Back on topic, I'm satisfied with stock grips on bass sized reels as long as they are still tacky.  My larger reels both spinning and conventional come with larger handles already, which I really like.  I've never liked metal handles and some of the more expensive reels still use them and I don't like the round eva grips either, but that is something I may just have to get used to.

I have big hands and I tend to hold my handles fairly loose in most cases. I started using Reel Grips shortly after they came out on the market and now I don't go without them. They fix the problems I have with all standard sized grips.

Maybe you should try a Hawg Handle on a Shimano Curado, that will change your mind, lol. But seriously, I dont get paid to plug Shimano, and they dont get paid to plug HawgTech, its just good stuff, and thats why they are here.

I think about the only reel handle I felt had too small of knobs was my Citica 200E.  I thought about those grips but I just put a Curado E handle on instead.  It has bigger knobs plus a bearing in each of them.

I've been putting Curado E handles on all my Shimano reels that have the smaller knobs.  I love the paddle knobs and longer E series handles.
