you should of went with Owner "beast" weighted hooks instead of those gamakatsu's , Owner beast 's hold your bait on there alot better and the hooks are superior to the gammas , oh well , you will like the rig-n-hook's tho , very good hooks that stay very sharp . here is a pic of the Owner beasts for next time , try them and you won't bother with the gamakatsu's .........

I don't have any issues with the Gamakatsu hooks

holding soft plastics. The wire on the Owner is an

unnecessary feature. I fish Owner 5/0 Superline Offset

Worm Hooks. This is a great hook, but I don't find

it to be far superior to the Gamakatsu. As a matter

of fact, for many soft plastics the Gammie thin wire

hook is a better choice.

Well I fished Gama's for years and still do on some minor occasions , but the Owner is by far the better hook for me, I've increased my hook-set ratio and fish in the boat when I made the switch, is it in my head, maybe but they work for me..I like the stiffer wire and after I switched to braid I dont feel any flex or hook bend,  its like setting the hook ona wall, one solid hit.

I use both the Gamakatsu & Owner hooks depending on what suits my needs best for the application it's being used for. They are both very sharp high quality hooks. If you are using braid with Gamakatsu hooks I would suggest the 2x wire that they offer. Regarding Marlboroman's order I think you did quite well on those baits and those selections should put a lot of fish in the boat for you. Good Luck.

Thanks Primus,

I have been stuck on fishing certain style flukes, jigs, etc...

I have been putting fish in the boat but I just want to try something different.

This one lake I fish, I use Gulp flukes in Arkansas Shiner.. That is a deadly bait, so while i was looking around on TW i found ElazTech Z Too Arkansas Shiner from strike king. I just want to see how they match up.

Ill let ya guys know, and hope to get some pics also ;)

didn't mean to bash on gamakatsu , i just think that with fishing hollow-bellied paddle tails , you want a stiff , sharp hook with a good sized gap to be able to set the hook quickly thru a big plastic body and not have the hook flex .

sorry to "malboroman" , the original poster , didn't mean to turn this into one of our famous "Owner vs Gamakatsu" hook debates  ;D . i hope you are catching em good with the baits you got , sounds like you got on a good pattern at your fishing spot . one thing you might also think of getting is some "Mend-it" soft bait glue , it will make those paddle tails last alot longer by being able to repair torn ones so they can be used repeatably . stay away from the super glue types that make the bait crusty and brittle  ;)
