I' curious about this as when I lived in Corvallis, Oregon I loved college football as it was a daytime sport and it got a lot of people off the river during fall chinook season.  Then the NFL started and even more people didn't want to brave the cold but prefered to watch the tube.  Not that there still wasn't people on the river it was just quieter.

Now I live in Tennessee and these people out here "LOVE" their football to the tenth power.  I have bass fished now for a number of years and it really seems to make a difference on the water.

Are there many of you that would rather watch the tube or rip some lip on game day.

Whooo, tough choice. If my Bills are playing, I might watch, although I've listened to them via the NFL app on my iPhone while out fishing.

If the weather is beautiful, I'd probably pick the water...

If WVU is playing I am watching. I have not missed a WVU game either listening or watching in over 10 years.

I rather go fishing than watch a game....even my ravens. Only thing that would keep me in is lightning

Both. If Alabama played at night, I'll fish in the day. If they played at 3pm, then I'll fish from 6am to noon. I don't watch pro ball so Sunday would be a good day to fish for me and dad as well.

Edit: by the way, I live near Knoxville. Welcome.

I have been known to carve out 3 hours of my day at home watching the Giants.  If the game is at 1 I fish before and/or after.  Use that time for a long lunch break at Hooters to watch the game.

If it's at 4 I fish all morning and into the afternoon and then head to Hooters for an early dinner and watch the game.

I'd rather watch paint dry, than ball sports :)

Obviously then, I'd rather fish.... but anything that gets me outside, photography, hiking, etc, is all WAAY better than being "trapped" in a darn house, glued to a TV..... no matter what the heck is on.... but most especially, if its just a bunch of grown men kicking, throwing, or hitting a ball around.

If I were into ball sports, I'd be on the field playing them. Not watching them on TV.

Peace,

Fish

There no reason to miss fishing time OR the Ball Game.

I'm a fairly Rabid Sports Fan - So . . . . . . .

Set up the DVR - Fish all day - watch the game at your leisure.

I like watching sports and if I'm not fishing I will hang out and watch the game but I definitely don't schedule my life around it. If I'm watching a game and one of my buddies calls and says lets hit the water, I'm out the door. I can always listen to it on the radio and or catch the highlights after I get home.

I'd take fishing over sitting in front of the television all day watching sports. I played enough sports in my life up through the college level.  There are enough phone apps, espn sports updates, and DVR as AJay mentioned....to keep in touch with the games going on while you are on the water. It took me up until my mid 20's to figure out that fishing is my real passion.  I probably would have figured that out sooner but I played 100 baseball games a year, football in high school, working out in off season. I never had time to fish  when I was growing up. Sometimes I regret devoting so much of my time to sports.

What I regret most, is not being able to fish with my grandpa more as a kid. He passed when I was 15 and at that age I was playing 3 or 4 sports year round. I never made time to go up to our summer home just to fish with him.  Little off topic but it's a constant reminder to me of the more important things in life that you can't get back.

If the weather is bad, ill eat pizza and watch the Cowboys or NASCAR, but if it's a beautiful day out there, I just play the radio broadcast on my phone, which clips nicely backwards into the otterbox case so I dont need headphone and dont have to hold it.

I will say I actually enjoy listening to games on the radio because I dont get as worked up, and it leaves more to the imagination. I should also mention I watch the highlights later in the day if it's radio to clarify my mental images of what went on.

Will not miss an LSU game unless it is absolutly necessary and then I TIVO it.

Otherwise I would rather be on the water.

I love the Skins as well!  I don't get to watch them much being in Oklahoma.

I hardly miss a Sooners home game.  I am a season ticket holder.  Other than that I'll DVR any other sports I want to watch including OU away games!  I spend a ton of time in the woods or on the bank/water!

I am a rabid Ohio State Buckeye and Dallas Cowboys fan. I have found that it if much  better on my health and my family if I DVR the games, go fishing and enjoy my day, and come home to watch the games later. It does two things for me....Since I know if they won or lost, I can watch the game without getting all bent out of shape, and a 3 and half hour game only takes about 2 hours and 20 minutes to watch.

I will fish in rain, sleet, snow, hail, heat, and just about any condion except for lightning, and dangerous winds. DVR the game. If I can be on the water, I am on the water.

If a Bills game is on, my partner will fish a scheduled tournament, but generally will not do recreational fishing. I'd miss the game to fish.

I do like a good game....but to sit when daylight is burnin....ohhhhh it's tough.

It's sad I had to move away for Seattle Seahawks to do well and even the Oregon Beavers didn't due to bad.  But now the only real temptation is all the new water/friends and new situations.

RW how did you get that way about the Broncos? I see you are fom Tennessee.

I grew up in Kansas City when the AFL was created. My wife and I moved to Denver in 1980,

but we didn't change our allegiance until John Elway was drafted. We moved to Tennessee

in 1997.
