ncbassfisher1496 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I'm starting to fish Lake Norman some and was wondering what the main type of forage is? I've seen a lot of bluegill there but what about shad, crawdads, etc.? Also what lures do you prefer to use in the spring, summer, and fall? Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 Ive fished there several times, count on crawfish, bluegil, perch, gizzard shad, threadfin shad. I ve heard there were blue back herrings in there but cant say that ive seen them. Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 The last time i was there was the fall of 2011 and i had success on a finding fish that were chasing the shad. That particular weekend, it was a dominant pattern. Ive also had alot of sucesss in the past pitchin and flipping, trying to imitate crawfish and blue gil. Norman is a good lake with some serious fish in it. It does seem to get really crowded out there in the summer time tho. Quote
