How many of you have read where your locator sonar puts off a ping that bass can hear??? how many turns off their locator?

I've never heard of that before but I suppose it's a possibility. I generally keep mine on and don't have trouble catching any fish.

Pong. I do when vertical fishing.

I do just the opposite. Some of my best fish, including my PB smallmouth was caught fishing "in the cone."

There is an audible click to some 'ducers.  I will sometimes turn mine off when approaching fish in shallow water.  Personally, since it's a rhythmic pattern, I don't think bass recognize it.  It's sort of like the trolling motor.  If you are pulsing it, and randomly on and off it, then you will spook fish.  If you come in nice and easy at a constant speed, they don't care.

I know a number of good tournament anglers who extensively use their electronics on practice days and sparingly use their electronics on tournament day.  In my case, my console locator produces a noticeable sound, but I never hear one from the bow unit.

Sometimes my sonar units are transmitting on three frequencies. Most of the time I just use two frequencies.

Do I turn them off when fishing?---NO, I use them to find fish as I am fishing and catching.

if im shallow say 5' and under going down a bank ill shut it off. Otherwise its on all the time especially vertical fishing. But I also dont have side imagine and to me anything shown at that depth aint tellin me much anyway.

Not to say this is a crazy question but I saw Ike go well all sorts of "IKE" in Major League Fishing episode and pitched right back in and catch another fish.  If that doesn't effect fish then a fish finder ping sure won't.
