Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 Im pretty sure your not supposed to target them without a stamp. Although like I said, I could be wrong. Im still kind of new to this. Im sure someone else who knows better will chime in. All I know is the creek I go to has signs that say "put and take trout area - 5 fish limit: trout stamp required" so I throw down the $5 extra bucks so I have something to fish for in the winter. Super User Bankbeater Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 $12.00 for resident, trout stamp is $7.00, and a white river border permit is $10.00. I believe that residents over 70 yo do not need a fishing permit. Quote
Rangerphil Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 If you are fishing in lakes or streams that are stocked with trout in PA you better have a stamp or they will give you a hard time. Also we have some lakes that you can't fish at all until opening day of trout! Quote

Snakehead Whisperer Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Washington DC is $10. Washington DC does not reciprocate any other states licenses (namely VA.) In other words, if you are fishing the Potomac from a boat or the Virginia shoreline across from DC, you must have a DC license. With Virginia and Maryland freshwater and tidal licenses I end up spending about $100 every year to fish all of the water in my area. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 Too much. Any other state mandate you provide your social security number to get your license ? IL started when they started with electronic printers. Wisconsin was the first state to require ss#'s, and they've been doing it for at least 20 years, maybe longer. I was told way back when, the reasoning behind it was for tracking deadbeat dads. I just paid $15 for IL resident. WI licenses are not avilable yet, but my non resident runs around $60 with a Great Lakes salmon stamp Quote
fowlskies Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Someone chimed in earlier with NY's fee of $29 (which is correct) from November to November (which is NOT correct). NY sporting licenses are valid from October 1st - Sept 30th. I wanted to clarify that so he and anyone else from NY that took that as the actual dates do not get fined for fishing or hunting in the month of Oct without a license. Every year, sometime in Sept., I buy my Super Sportsman license in NY for $88. It includes your fishing, small and big game, bow hunting, muzzleloader and turkey licenses. My next step is to the post office to get a federal waterfowl stamp for $15 and I am set for the year to the tune of $103. Now I need to find a way to pay off my wife so I can get more of my money's worth out of the licenses. Although she is pretty good about it and I get quite a bit of time out in the field and on the water. Quote
thehooligan Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Jersey is $23 for license $10 for trout stamp Saltwater is free Theres a three rod limit if fishing from shore. This year im buying a deleware and pa non-resident license. Quote
Super User MCS Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 Interesting. It's hard to find a lake around here that isn't stocked with trout. I'd be really happy if they stocked bass at even 5% of the numbers they stock trout at. In the states that have a trout fee, can you just not keep them if you don't have a stamp, or is it illegal to even target them without the stamp? When I lived in va and Fl both post there numbers stocked, size, year and location for all species. You would be surprised. Both states stock bluegill, catfish, bass, carp etc. (pike, walleye and musky in va) but it is a non yearly basis because these fish are able to at least live and in most cases spawn. Trout get it every year, multiple times in some cases because two reasons, bucket fisher slaughter them and by summer the F&W assumes the water temps will to hot for 95% to survive. Quote

Christian M Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 New Jersey is a mandatory $22.50 for a license, optional $10 extra for a trout stamp. Jersey requires a Drivers License or some other form of government photo ID with all your current info, as well as your Social Security #, and if Im not mistaken phone # as well. They catch a lot of guys that owe back child support and alamony by requiring ID & SS. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 14, 2013 Global Moderator Posted February 14, 2013 I hate all the permits I buy each year. Lots of lakes and counties require extra permits on top of the state permit. Hunt/fish combo-38.50 3 pole permit-6.50 trout-12 state park vehicle permit 20.50 3 year boat sticker for both my boats-32.50 each and then the lake permits start adding on Wyandotte Co non-resident fish/boat/trout-77 Johnson Co resident boat/fish-27 Plus I buy my year Non-resident for Missouri-40 with trout-7.50 Arkansas 7 day nonresident permit with trout for the White River-29 Oklahoma 6 day nonresident permit-38.50 Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 14, 2013 Super User Posted February 14, 2013 The charges for more than one rod....is that for more than one rod fishing at a time or more than one on the boat? If you have 5 rods on your boat but only fish one at a time, do you still need it? Just curious. Quote
bkohlman Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Usually it is a "at a time" charge. In KS some crappie guys will toss and troll several rods at a time and need that permit. Quote
Koofy Smacker Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Pennsylvania was stated earlier. 22.70 base license with another 10 for a trout stamp. Then each year I get a non resident New York license for smallie fishing the adirondacks, and a $50 sport fishing boat decal with the chesapeake, plus a $30 PA US army corp parking pass (otherwise its $3 per day to park). Launch fees at the marinas are the only things I have to pay for after I get all licensed up! Quote
CoBass Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 The extra rod charge in my state is for use. I can have as many rods in the boat as I want but legally can only have two in the water at any time. I buy the second rod stamp for when I'm trolling or bottom bouncing for walleye. A lot of the bait fishermen buy it so they can have two bait rigs out. Quote

Koofy Smacker Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 The $50 sport fishing decal for the Chesapeake allows anybody on your boat to fish, license or not right? yes and no so be careful. Yes, everybody and anybody that comes on the boat is allowed to fish. No because each person who is on the boat fishing also needs to have a saltwater registration (free on the Maryland DNR website). They do this because of how many stripers come up onto the flats to spawn As long as each person on the boat has that saltwater registration you are good to go.
