CPBassFishing Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I had a small bass on yesterday for a few seconds before it got off. I was fishing a wacky 5" senko, and I had paused to talk to my friend. I lifted up and I was fighting a fish. It got off shortly after that. Was it even hooked? I was using a 1/0 gamakatsu weedless wacky hook. The barb was flattened if that means anything, but I had constant pressure on the fish so I don't see how it got off if it was hooked. I'm just wonering why it came off. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 12, 2013 Super User Posted February 12, 2013 May have just had a piece of the bait in its mouth, like a dog pulling on a rope. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 sometimes fish grab the bait and try to swim off with it but not the hook, as mentioned above. ive witnessed this in shallow clear water using live bluegills for bass. sometimes they drop it the minute they feel resistance, other times i would let them swim quite a bit with the bluegill in their mouth to give them a chance to try and swallow it so i could set the hook in them... CPBassFishing Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 Alright thanks. It was just so windy that I didn't even know the fish had it until I pulled it of the bottom. Ah wll, it happens. Quote
