Makes a good spinnerbait, crankbait, rattle trap, etc. rod. Not sensitive enough for jigs and T-rigs in my opinion.

I would use it for reaction baits. For a starter rod, it looks great. Havent tried it yet, but Im sure it stacks up there with the Sellus, Lightning Shock, and other budget rods.

I have used it for jigs and t-rigs last season as a cheap outfit. Worked great, the line is where you are going to get most of your sensitivity as that is what the hits are going to be transmitted to first, it is up to you to feel it through the rod.

If I got a hit I hooked up more often than not using this rod in 6'9'' MH/F, I used 40# 832 w/ FC Leader

Even though it's 50 bucks, it doesn't feel or fish like a "budget" rod. IMO, it's on par with my 1st gen Vendetta, only without the anodized bits.

Amazing how if a rod isn't $200, on these boards it has very little use or is crap. Same way with reels. Stupid.

I've got a M action spinning rod. I like it and it's sensitive. Seems a little stiff for a M though.

almost every single response was positive.

Yeah but some people act like a $50 rod is beneath them. Especially if it's a certain brand.

Yea this is true with anything. You should go on bladeforum or candlepowerforum it's a lot worse there.

Everyone has different tastes my friend, it's like that everywhere. There is a broad spectrum of abilities and budgets here, but most of these guys are tolerant.

My first set of rods were all  under $45 ea.  I bought 6 or 7 over a few years.  They lasted me for several years until I had saved up enough to buy more expensive rods.  They worked great for me and I never had any issues.

Expensive rods are very nice, but there's nothing wrong with the more affordable models either.  I say go for it!

I understand that, but the equipment doesn't make you a good fisher man. It's nice to have the latest/greatest gear, but in this sport it's not mandatory and that's the beauty of it. KNOWLEDGE will catch way more fish than $500 set up will. I think everyone gets too caught up in seeing if they can feel a gnat land on the tip of the rod. I've used a Shakespeare Excursion before, and never lost fish because of it lacked some of these "high dollar features" other rods have. Calling this rod or that rod a "starter" or "budget" rod really gives me a good laugh sometimes.
