One of the most effective cold water baits is the suspending jerkbait. Cold water and sluggish bass are no problem for a suspending Smithwick Rogue! What's your favorite jerkbait color?

I'm not familiar with cold fishing for bass. I own 2 Rogues Might have to try and make it out there. Haven't been for the year yet.

Advice on how to fish jerkbaits? What if the bass are still holding deep?

The clown and avocado shad colors are my favorites in the rogues.

Chrome blue and Menendez' purple painter and threadfin are great colors in the rogue.

I thought I won my first tournament of the year on that bait. We were culling fish within a half hour of a three hour tournament. With about 20 minutes left I knew where a stump was submerged but no visible because the water was slightly up. I threw out the bait reeled it down and twitch twitch boom on the pause. I felt the weight and knew we just won but then it just didn't feel right. Turns out it was an eight pound walleye. We finished second by a single ounce.

I'm all about the LC DD100 ghost minnow! As well as the 78 in that color!
