recon033 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I would like to get four rods, and keep them around 100 bucks. I fish drop shots up to 35 FOW, shakey heads on the occasion, wacky worms and texas rigged worms, and I also pitch jigs. The usual spinner and crank baits for bass and pike as well. What four rods should I get to cover all the fishing I will do. Looking to keep it as on a budget as I can but will stay in the ball park of 100 bucks. What should I be looking at? I would like to have at least one bait caster going this season too. Quote
Super User retiredbosn Posted February 11, 2013 Super User Posted February 11, 2013 Recon, is your budget 100 per rod or total? Quote
DaveT63 Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I would keep an eye out in the flea market here. You should be able to find used Avids and similar quality foot close to that price. I would look for a 7' MHF and a 7' MF, maybe a MLF, and maybe a longer rod for pitching. Quote
Super User jbsoonerfan Posted February 11, 2013 Super User Posted February 11, 2013 Shimano Compre rods in the following. From your last sentence I am not sure how many spinning rods vs casting rods you are talking about. 7'2" MH - t-rigs 7'2 H - jigs 6'10" - MH reaction for spinnerbaits/topwater 7' M or MH Crankbait for cranks Quote
Arv Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Compre or Carbonlite. Veritas isn't bad either but I don't like the reel seat or the handle. Quote
recon033 Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 I think I want a caster for spinners and my crankbaits. I mostly use spinning rods but I think its time to expand my techniques. Quote
