Just getting everyone's opinion on pitching rod lengths. Do you prefer the longer 7' to 7'6" rods? Do some of you use 6'6" rods for pitching? I seem to pitch better with 6'6" rods. I know the longer rods will help you with the hookset sometimes. Let me know.

Ive used both short and longer rods. I prefer 7'4-7'6. Im much more accurate and can skip better with a longer rod.

My primary is a 7'7" Heavy Cumara, but I'm going to add a 7'11" to the lineup as well.

I use a 7'6" heavy Custom Loomis Blank and use 7'2" Compre.  However, if I'm in my canoe I find using my 6'6" MH Shimano Convergence because the shorter length makes it easier to pitch.

I pitch with every rod I own...........it's just a type of cast. But to get specific, if I am pitching, say jigs or t-rigged plastics to visable targets or weed pockets I most often use a 7' MH/F casting rod.

I agree with WW2farmer, i pitch with everything its just a cast. But to answer what the OP was getting at, for skipping under really low docks and getting all the way back, ill use a 6'6. But for my "flippin and pitchin rods' i like at least 7'6. I like the 7'10"s and 8s too!

Like already stated, the cover decides what i use. My shortest for docks and scattered stuff is a G2 Crucial 7' 2". For moderate stuff like matted kissimmee grass or thick pads i use a G2 Crucial 7' 7". And for the slop like matted hydrilla and such i use a G2 Cumara 7'11".
