Vinny Chase Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Boo-Yah Glow Blade.... your thoughts? Any success with it? What do ya think of it for clear water/ low light periods? I wouldnt ever buy a bait just because it says they glow. There really isnt a use for a glowing bait it is only a tactic for the companies to make a little money off of you. Quote

There have been many days where, through the ice, panfish will only hit something that glows. Quote
Canadian Kid Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 ok, thought they were just painted blades... what about painted blades? Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 2, 2010 Super User Posted April 2, 2010 I like painted blades, a lot! On a local public pond a few years ago I went 9 for 10 and 11 for 14. WOW! Never happen before or again. 3/8 oz Booyah, chartreuse skirt, white willow blade, chartreuse Colorado blade, no trailer. ;D ;D ;D Quote
BassThumb Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I like painted blades for smallies, especially white painted willows, but I've never tried glowing blades. I have had very good luck with those glowing Cabela's brand beavers though. I think glowing lures may have their place in low light/shady conditions in clear water, like punching grass and night fishing spinnerbaits. Quote
Chris Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Painted blades work well in muddy water or low light conditions. The painted blades make the lure appear to be a small school of baitfish. When there is not a lot of light to reflect off the blades painted blades stand out. Glow blades help them stand out a little more. Sometimes I use a combo painted front and chrome or gold back blade. When I was fishing in North Carolina one time I could do no wrong with a double turtle blade both where painted and both did glow.
