Blue Streak Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 I was looking at these the other day and they don't look too bad for the price. Any opinions on these? Quote
BobP Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Speed Traps have been classics here in the SE for decades, and still going strong. I think some of their pain patterns are sort of funky but they are reliable producers and very durable plastic baits. Quote
Stringjam Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 What Bob said. They're a killer design with a tight wiggle. Quote
River Rat316 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Very good, cheap effective, durable bait! Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 26, 2010 Super User Posted March 26, 2010 Great cranks , made to fish fast. Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 26, 2010 Super User Posted March 26, 2010 Hard to compare because there are so many crankbaits that can do well, but the Speed Trap is definitely one of them. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 This is one of the most underrated crankbaits ever. They run true and stay true at speed and produce a unique vibration. Try the Crystal Craw pattern. It's been my most consistent producer for largemouth and smallmouth over the last 8 years. Quote
Blue Streak Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks for the replies and suggestions I am going to pick up a couple. You are right about their paint jobs though, lot of room for improvement. Quote
21farms Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 speed traps are my favorite crankbaits...i like them even better than the worden's timber tiger (which was the original designer's "improved" version of the speed trap). anoither site has the custom paint shop versions of the speed trap on sale. these finishes are really nice although i have no problems with the finishes on the standard speed trap. soccplayer07 Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 I like the looks but d**n they are light... Quote
Blue Streak Posted April 2, 2010 Author Posted April 2, 2010 I picked up a couple of these and tried them yesterday when I was out. I did not have any problem at all casting them with a Revo SX on a Fenwick med heavy Tecna AV casting rod with 12 pound Yo Zuri. I tried the 1/4 and the 1/8 size and both worked very well. I think their weight is very understated. Quote
BassThumb Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Cold water cranks with a tight wobble, well known for having a durable diving bill that won't snap off when bounced off of wood and rock. I like em. They have their place. Quote
b.Lee Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 I was a made a believer this year after being introduced to them from my club Quote
