The news has a need to sensationalize all things......but when did NOAA start naming winter storms?! This has been reserved only for Hurricanes/Typhoons and TS's. So the blizzard is Nemo, and there was a different storm with a name earlier this year. My sympathy for all of you who may be dealing with 3' of snow right now. Quote

Down here in VA Allstate decided to charge us 5% of the total value of our home as a deductible. If a tree fell on the house, I'm on the hook to repair the room, roof, etc. I don't happen to be in a flood zone, so I talked to State Farm and they said a simple $1000 deductible is all for house damage in a named storm, etc. Needless to say, I left Allstate post-haste, and am now with State Farm. ClackerBuzz Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 it money all around. from insurance to network tv. they came to a huge realization after the oj simpson trail area....new's profits. up until that point basically prime time and sports generated money from selling commercial time. for the first time they saw amazing ratings from their new's affiliates. sensational/horse jockey journalism was here to stay and the price for advertising during these amazing events skyrocketed. its like a mini-superbowl every week or two. the sad part is how much it frightens america. i read part of a havard psycology paper documenting it from the 1990's forward. its really bad b/c big cities like philly, dc, ny have a high homicide rate. its very good and something to uplift the community when the murder rate is down 3% from the prior year. but its all negated b/c the reporting of homicides by news agencies is up 3,000%. stay tuned!!!!!! They need to come up with something scarier than Disney characters if they want to be taken seriously. From the list posted, I sure hope my state doesn't get hit by Yogi. I'm sure it will be smarter than the average storm and if he brings boo-boo with him we could be in real trouble. Quote

This is true, damage from hurricane and named storm requires the policy holder to pay a different deductable, most ins. companies I've been with charge 2% of the policy. paper documenting it from the 1990's forward. its really bad b/c big cities like philly, dc, ny have a high homicide rate NYC has had the lowest homicide rate in about 50 years, that can't be said for other major cities. I might be land locked but I've got these little hills in my backyard you may have heard of (Rocky Mountains). They tend to collect a little bit of snow and send some of it my way too. We haven't gotten our usual 2-3 foot snowstorm in town yet this year but our snowiest months are still ahead of us. Here's a picture of what real snow looks like lol. The funny thing is that the road in the picture usually doesn't even open until Memorial Day so the picture is what snow looks like here in June.
