I was wondering if anyone here has ever had any success fishing those circle ponds that are in the middle of the on/off ramps connecting to the Turnpike? I have tried the one on Sample and Turnpike and actually caught my PB there. You can see the pig on my profile pic! I know there are many others like the one that connects the Sawgrass Exp and Turnpike that looks really promising. Any comments?

I fish them all the time, some are loaded and others are just filled with trash. Ive gone up and down all of 95 fishing them, I live and springs and test them out every now and then.

I have fished some and caught fish.  I don't like them anymore, I've seen gators and snakes, not worth it for me.

You dont know till your lure is in the water. I see people fishing them when I go by those. I have yet to fish one off Turnpike, but need to give it a shot.

I have been having some really good action fishing the turnpike ponds. I think I lost my PB at the Okeechobee rd exit a few weeks ago. I will be heading out there this weekend for a rematch!

I haven't seen any gators or snakes myself and I've fished them quite often actually. But then again were in south Florida lol, you should be expecting it right? Just need to be careful. The one on sample has no fish smaller then 2 pounds.

A guy I know did his bass fishing by doing just that, fishing turnpike ponds and canals around them. He caught and mounted a 9+ LMB. He caught on this little bitsy popper. He had the bait placed on the fish's mouth when he had it mounted.

J/K!

I also take that exit quite a bit.. I live near Atlantic and University, and was driving up to WPB last weekend, took that route, and told my wife that I have to try this spot because I bet nobody fished there! guess I was wrong :)

^^ I actually thought the same thing but have never seen anyone fish there, amd ive been driving around there for yours....at least not the sample one. Granted I have only been fishing there myself for a month now.

I take the north ramp from sample and right before there's a metal barricade (before actually getting on turnpike) I just pull off like 10 feet onto the grass. I've seen FHP drive right by and had no issues so far. You can also take the south ramp and pull over the same way. South pond is smaller but both still hold nice fish! I would love to join you today but I'm actually taking my hand built Jon boat out to Lox with a few friends. But definitely next week when you go out send me a message and we can def meet up and fish bro!

Parking on the turnpike is illegal. Will you get a ticket? probably not, unless you're the unlucky one to run into the "chip on the shoulder" trooper.

I wouldn't let that stop me. Just FYI for ya.

BTW. The Jupiter exit is a good pond.

It's not really parking on the turnpike exactly. You pull off way onto the grass. There's over 100 feet of room before the pond. There's truck marks all over. If they don't want people there I'm sure it would say no parking or no fishing like a lot of places do. Jupiter is pretty far north from me. Try out the sample one if u ever get a chance.

I live in Parkland, and drive by those all of the time. I always say that I'm going to go and fish them one day, but never do for some reason. I drove by yesterday and thought those lakes would be a great spot to drop a small jon boat it. I might check the Sawgrass and Turnpike exits this afternoon. If I do, I will post a report. If you see a black Ford Escape there today, give me a honk.

There is a large rectangular lake/pond across the street(west)from the Turtle Run Walmart. There is an easement for the power lines that run through there. Anyone ever try that spot?

I tried a couple of the ones in that chain closer to sample and it was all really small fish. I did the one right behind south sw of target over there too, it was ok.

Fished the Sample Rd North entrance lake and caught 2 around 2 lbs. Then tried the North bound exit at the Sawgrass and the water was really, really dirty. Only made a couple casts and moved on.

It was very windy. Will definitely try both lakes some other time when the conditions are better.

BTW..thats cool you ask me for a bunch of spots to exchange for your "secret spot" and tell me this place which is probably one of the the most obvious bodies of water to everyone, tell me not to tell anyone, then post it up here for a billion people to see. Kind of lame you tried to sucker some secrets out of me like that, but ya didnt actually get any. Btw the pb of yours isnt 8lbs, Just sayin. Good luck to ya, and dont worry... Your secret is safe with me.

U R not the only one, people do it all the time bro. They are too lazy to find their spot and they will fish yours until the no fishing signs show up  and give no info or even the time of day in return. And people wanna complain on the forum why no body wants to "help" them out. LOL Look at it like this karma is a *****, good luck to them finding their trophy bass.

Ouch. Good thing Florida is full of spots. Hard to not catch anything in any canal down here.

Well said.

I tried out that spot yesterday and it was as lifeless as a swimming pool. The water level there was super low so all the cover and grass was out of the water. Maybe if u have a Jon boat and a depth finder you'll have some luck. I'm guessing if there is fish in there they either swim through the under ground tunnels to other spots or sitting in the deep in the middle.

I'm confused? What are you mad about again? That I put my best spot out for people to go fish? Your comment makes its seem like I took all the spots you wrote to me and put it up on here...so your upset I shared this spot with other people lol?! I'm sorry I didn't know me and you had some deal to not share our best spots? Tell me what's the purpose of this forum then?? I figured there was no point to get it a secret as long as everyone practices catch and release. Sorry if I hurt your feelings buddy
