Jake P Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Alright guys, this is one of 3 Rage Tail baits I havent fished yet. I watched Zonas last episode where he found a patch of grass and was slaying them with the Shellcracker. Gave me a better idea of how I might use them. If yall have used them successfully, lets hear some details. Weightless? weighted? rigging? I want to hear it all. Thanks yall. -Jake Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 7, 2013 Super User Posted February 7, 2013 I havent fished the rage shell cracker. But i have a fished the Big Bite Baits Warmouth which is very similar in concept. I have fished it texas rigged on the flat side with a 1/8 or 1/4 oz bullet pegged. I have also tried it exposed on the flat side on a jig head. I like texas rigged better. (Less snags) the warmouth is a great bed bait. I expect the same from the Rage. My fishing buddy likes to use them rigged flatsided for carolina rigs. I havent tried that yet. Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 7, 2013 Super User Posted February 7, 2013 I have a pack of these ready to go for prespawn but haven't fished them yet. Im planning on using the Rage Rig or using them as a swim jig trailer. Heres a link to the post Big-O made about them a while back. Theres some rigging info there. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/108801-rage-shellcracker-bass-sushi/ Quote

Super User Shane J Posted February 7, 2013 Super User Posted February 7, 2013 There are a number of riggings that are effective, it just depends on the conditions and type of cover you are fishing. For sparse cover or open water, I like to rig it on a 1/4oz weighted swimbait hook, just like a little swimbait (bait verticle, hook through the belly slot). For pitching into wood, I turn it sideways on the same type of hook (I like the Moaner weighted Stroker), and let it flutter on down like a wounded baitfish. For bottom presentations, use it on a standard Tx rig with a pegged weight, or even on a standup (shakey head) jig head (no skirt). It works on a skirted jig, too, but I usually save my Shell Crackers, and use a Menace or Craw on those. Hope that helps!
