JayKumar Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Classic: If it's mild-ish at Grand, some of the fish could be much shallower than most folks realize. Check the piece I'm writing for Bassmaster.com, should be up next week. However it goes, will be awesome! 1 Quote
JKarbo214 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I also play Fantasy Fishing on Bassmaster.com. Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of groups you can join? I am reading that the limit is 3 on the FAQ page on Bassmaster.com but I don't see anything in the official rules and it does allow you to join more than 3. I just want to make sure I am eligible for the big prizes if by chance I ever had a really good year. If anyone has an answer, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Quote
Shoop05 Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 So Ive been doing some homework and trying to sort out the fantasy picks for the classic. The first tier is tough. Who do you guys think will finish better out of these 4 guys and why? 1. Kevin Van Dam 2. Edwin Evers 3. Aaron Martens 4. Brent Chapman Right now Im leaning on Evers, but I know Chapman has alot of experience on Grand Lake. Aaron Martens is a killer when it gets tough, and KVD has won on Grand Lake before, granted it was in the summer. Below is how I think these guys will finish amongst each other, not necessarily in the tournament, how about you? Evers Martens Van Dam Chapman Quote
Shoop05 Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 oh i got ya...yeah i havent talked to him in a couple of months. I hope he does well... I had heard Marty relocated down there. It must have only been for a short while because he was back home and hadn't left for the classic as of yesterday. Hopefully he does well, I still have him picked in fantasy. Quote

He knows the lake intimately. He hasn't fished it much the last 4 to 5 years. It is going to be a jerkbait bite that wins IMO. Quote

I think Im still going with Evers to win it, but you are 100% correct about Christie, this is his sandbox, and I expect him to do well too. Quote

I skipped your second sentence! lol No I am not 100% on Christie. Just a hunch. I do on the other hand, think out of your 4, that the lake just doesn't set up well for Martens. I could be wrong there as well. lol Evers live down the road from a good friend of mine. Based on what my buddy tells me, Evers doesn't fish Grand much. That doesn't mean he won't do well. The only thing I can say for sure is most of these guys catch the heck out of the fish. I can't wait! Quote

aharris Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I feel like this may be a pretty tough classic. I hope it turns into a drop shot/shakey head tourney. haha #AMart #MattLee Quote
Lasher Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Am I the only one who thinks Tommy Biffle walks away with this? I would not bet against him in the state of Oklahoma Quote
gripnrip Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Am I the only one who thinks Tommy Biffle walks away with this? I would not bet against him in the state of Oklahoma IMO other Okies are better options. Tommy hasn't fished this lake as much as you would think. He has been quoted as saying so. That doesn't mean he won't do well tho. He does better when the water is a little warmer. Welcome to the forum! Quote

Shoop05 Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 I don't want to count any eggs before they hatch, but my guys are looking pretty good so far through day 1, I know these are estimates, but even if theyre close, all 5 of my guys are in the top 30 and 3 are in the top 10. Hows yours doing? Quote
