deerhunter Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hey guys looking to get a good shallow crank rod. 0-10 feet. I was looking at the *** 7'1 med or the 7 ft med kistler helium micro lta cranking rod which is on sale. Let me know what you think Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 I don't know anything about the *** but I own the kistler. It is a really nice rod for throwing cranks. Good backbone, parabolic bend and great sensitivity. I think you will be happy with that rod for sure. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 I have an older (not sure which year as Kistler has changed their rods a ton of times) 7' MF LTA I use for balsa cranks. It is matched with a Conquest 101, and it really does a nice job of handling this duty. 1 Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 If it is between those rods only I would get the kistler and enjoy the sale price! Both are solid choices. Quote
deerhunter Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks guys. How will this rod do for ripping cranks out of the grass? Quote
L a r r y Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I have the Kistler Helium LTA crankbait composite rod in the 7'3" version. In talking with Trey, he said that this would be a better fit as I would be throwing lipless cranks with this over grass. I can say that I can feel the tops of grass and can rip it very easily on 12lb mono and feel everything the bait is doing. I'm loving my Kistler rod, and will be making another purchase of a Kistler rod. Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks guys. How will this rod do for ripping cranks out of the grass? The model I have would not be the first rod I used for this presentation...just not enough stick there. JMO. Quote
deerhunter Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Hoping this rod isn't like a wet noodle Quote
