Crookedneck Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I don't think there is such a thing as a Bait Monkey. Winter is getting a little old... I'm not even close to getting every thing on my list. Just from the last couple weeks. Not pictured is the 4 LC Pointers....3 more rod builds (fiberglass cranking rod, drop shot rod, and another MH/F) ...3 more reels, and the two Plano boxes of hair jigs. LOL! I think I am set on cranks...220 finesse drop shot weights from 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz should last me a while. I paid for the wife to get her hair done today...so that makes it easier. Quote
Super User Darren. Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 Maybe you only have a bait ferret. I definitely have a bait monkey. Quote
Super User deaknh03 Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 If you saw the stuff I bought this winter you would call me Fay Wray. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 Bait slacker more like it. Quote
BradGuenette Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Oh boy! I'm in the same boat, spring is coming and I'm no where near all stocked up with what I "need" haha on the bright side I just scored a new job at one of Canada's biggest outdoor/fishing stores, problem with that is I can already see my paycheck wasting away on gear! Good thing it's a second job Quote

Super User rippin-lips Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 I just think you are more in control of your bait monkey then some of us are. Over the past 3wks I've spent $1,200 on fishing supplies. 1 Quote

Don't tell me this is all the tackle you have? Where are your other rods and reels? All your other baits? Where are your 100 pounds of plastics? The Bait Monkey is real. It lives among us and comes out when there are fishing tackle sales, you are looking at the fishing catalogs or you are walking around a tackle/sporting goods store. He is watching you. You don't know it, but the Bait Monkey is watching you and your every move. It is bad luck to get the Bait Monkey angry at you. If you walk out of a store without any fishing equipment the Bait Monkey needs another sacrafice from someone else to satisfy his taste for blood and cash register receipts. Don't play around with the Bait Monkey. Take him seriously. Very seriously. Just remember, he is watching us all and making notes. When the time is right he will jump out and bite us on our fannies to make us buy more tackle. His teeth are sharp. You will only feel his pain in your wallet. Now go out and satisfy the Bait Monkey or we all will have to pay for your deliquencies. 2 Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 I don't think there is such a thing as a Bait Monkey. I hate to dispute you, but yes, there is a bait monkey. You see, I work part time at BPS, and I can assure you, I have seen the bait monkey leading guys around by the hand. Heck, I even seen him leading one guy around by the ears. They usually have lists 2 pages long in their hot little hands. Kinda like the wife's grocery list. And believe me, that darned monkey wont let them out of the store until that list is filled. They will start with a basket, and usually end up with a cart, They, and the monkey will sometimes get irate, if we don't have something on that list. I gotta tell ya, it is truly a sight to behold, watching the bait monkey do his thing.....love it!! You must believe in the bait monkey, if you ever expect to grow in this wonderful sport of Bass Fihing. Hootie Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 I wish I had a monkey. Anybody want to trade for my Silverback Gorilla? 2 Quote
je1946 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Surprised no one has come up with the quote "My wife says if I buy one more fishing rod she's going to leave me, I'm sure gonna miss her) So far only about $650 on new rods and baits, not done yet though. Quote
5fishlimit Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Newsflash: The bait monkey is alive a well! Quote
Jmrichardson2011 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 I have managed to avoid the dreaded monkey for the most part this winter - I keep feeling his eyes on me though. Finally gave in and bought the only fishing tackle I have purchased since last October at the sports show in Schaumberg, IL last week. Got a couple of custom in-line spinners mostly for northern pike but will make good bass baits too. I would love some of those Strikeback spinnerbaits I have seen on here though.... Oh crap! That's him! Get the monkey away now! Quote
plumworm Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Living 30 mi. south of you, It looks like you have been going through the dump bins at Gander in Green Bay with all the Havoc plastics. Quote
Maico1 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 You mean to tell after all these years of paying "Bait Monkey Support"he is not real............. Quote
Maico1 Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Oh yea, so who is this guy? Either way I think you have the coolest BM I have ever seen.......Now one question , did you dress him or did he dress himself. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 The bait monkey is most certainly not a myth. If I'm home on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with nothing to do there is a good chance I go to dicks or gander mountain just to buy some stuff I KNOW I don't need. When it comes to rods and reels I know my next four to five purchases before I even have money for the first one. 1 Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I don't doubt the existence of the bait monkey. The only question I have about the bait monkey is.....Is the bait monkey responsible for me buying a trolling motor this winter?? or is that the boat baboon?? Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 Either way I think you have the coolest BM I have ever seen.......Now one question , did you dress him or did he dress himself. Can't take credit for his atire, I found him this way. Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Looks like a member of the Clown Posse to me. Quote
Jake P Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 He is very alive. He takes over my soul whenever I am browsing TW online or I enter any store that sells tackle. He only allows me to buy in 4's. He tells me that I have to do this because if I get on a hot pattern and get snagged up or lose 3 in a row, I will still have 1 left. Even though I have 3 of the previous 4 same lures I bought last week. Same with soft plastics and terminal as well. 4 packs of 4/0 EWG hooks. 4 1/2 packs of tungstens. 4 bags of Rage Recon worms. He is a sick monkey. I went to walmart with a 5 item grocery list and spent 113$. KVD 1.5'S & 2.5'S in Gizzard Shad and Chart/ Blk back were on sale for 3.96$ a piece. I bought 4 of each color in 1.5 and 4 of each in 2.5. Then saw the RES were marked down to 4.76$ so i had to buy 8 as well. Then the monkey told my wife milk and air filters sky rocketed to 44.99$ a piece. Quote
