BigEZ19 Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 I know i asked alot of basic questions. But whats you favorite way to fish the lizard? Personaly I like to twitch and swim it over all kinds of cover. How bout you guys? Quote
brushhoggin Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 you nailed it. yo yoing it is effective too Quote
Chris Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Most of the time I just pitch them to targets or holes in grass. Other times I drag them on a Carolina rig or fish them like a regular worm on the bottom. A lizard is going to displace more water than a ribontail and is a better choice around cover or stained water. Quote

X2 about the highlighted stuff except I fish them on Carolina rig most of the time instead of pitching them in holes and what not. Quote

Super User Big Bait Fishing Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 In what conditions were you guys consider using a lizard? I haven't had any luck with them. when i throw them on a carolina rig , i'm fishing deep . i fish them in 20-50 ft. of water . i use them in place of dropshotting deep water . i find i get more bites with the larger profile of the lizard then with a worm ... Super User Hammer 4 Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 Also, when fish are shallow, but are in or under cover like weeds ect. You can swim a lizard over the tops of the weeds to draw the fish out, or you can crig em, and drag a lizard through the cover if it's not super dense. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 T-rig 90% of the time. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 Split shot fished as a modified C-rig or traditional C-rig. 8-) Quote
Super User CWB Posted March 30, 2010 Super User Posted March 30, 2010 Conventional wisdom is that when you think of a lizard, you think Carolina Rig. The lizard may be the ultimate c-rig bait, but don't limit yourself to that. Throw it anywhere you would throw a worm or any other soft plastic. It excels in the spring on spawning flats and in shallow grass. Might be just the thing the fish haven't seen to entice an extra bite or 2. My favorite is the Rage Lizard as it is the only lizard I have used where the legs actually move on the retrieve and make significant commotion. Quote
JacobK Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 t-rigged with a light bullet weight, fish it almost like a senko. Quote
Lipped M Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I fish them weightless,on a Carolina rig(Texas rigged)and smaller sizes on dropshot. On the Carolina rig and fishing it weightless I prefer to use a sweeping action in 1 to 2 foot increments. While dropshoting I will use small hops then sweep it.Colors I like are, pumpkinseed, green pumpkin, black and bullfrog.I like the Zoom brand Quote
