Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 I carried my Smallmouth 6'10" M Fast with Curado 51E every time I went out last year after I got them. My Cumara 7'2" MH Fast is another rod that sees use every time as well. Usually has a Fuego on it. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 Fenwick HMG/AV 7'6". My "flippin stick" Has brought in all my 5lb+ bass except my PB, and helped me win more than a few $. Got a few more HMG's for other presentations. I think I'm the only Fenwick guy on the forum Quote
piscicidal Posted February 5, 2013 Author Posted February 5, 2013 I've got a couple Fenwick rods...I love em. +80% of the saltwater fish I have ever caught have come off my Fenwick spinning rod. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 My rods of the day are selected by my target species and locations like beach, jettie, sea wall or boat. I prefer 7' when it's windy and 7'6 when it's not. I do fish for bass most afternoons (not in the summer) but I target a number of different fish in the mornings, this time of year I may use live bait a couple of times a week, don't have a favorite, just the tool for the job. Super User Gone_Phishin Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 I'm not sure if it is my favorite, but I caught more fish on a Cumulus 7'1" MH/Core 51 combo last season than on any other. Don't get me wrong, I really love this stick, I just don't know if I have one clear-cut favorite at this point. Quote

11justin22 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Man there's a lot of dobyns!!! Since I got it my kistler magnesium 6'9" mh/f with a gold carbonlite and 16 lb sunline sniper. Before that, my one that I always brought was a carbonlite rod with said reel. I know it is ny a hundred dollar rod but man I love it. Have caught a ton of fish on it in only a year and half including my three best. Quote
Triton Man Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I almost hate to admit this but my MVP would have to be my two-piece Gander Mountain IM-8 Guide Series spinning rod. Its a 6'6" medium fast action rod for only about 60 bucks but its the one I use the most out of about 10 rods. And I have some "better" more expensive rods including a m/f SC Avid (I like it, grip gets a bit uncomfortable for jerkbaits all day), m/xf SC Mojo (decent with senkos), 6'3" m/xf SC eyecon (my main jerkbait rod, thought the length and grip style would be good, pretty happy) mh/f Veritas (really dont like it much, reel screw is annoying, too stiff, not that sensitive), g.loomis IMX m/f (still getting used to it, dont like the grip set up but casts far and starting to really like it), fenwick HMX (never really felt right, stripper guide seems to be too small) mh/f quantum allilance (little sensitivity), two baitcasters that I almost never use, m/f quantum tour (can't feel a thing, just weight at the end of the line means I caught weeds or fish) and h/f sc mojo frog (terrible with frogs). Since its a two peice its always in my car and gets used whenever I get a minute or two to cast a lure from shore. When I fish at night I basically only throw a single colorado bladed spinnerbait and this is the only rod I want to use because it just seems more sensitive than my others. Makes no sense but thats how it seems. Its also my favorite for throwing hard jerkbaits even though a two-piece can be annoying by coming apart I deal with it happily. I've tried to add a jerkbait rod since I dont like to take the time to switch from my braid spool for throwing the spinnerbait to my fluro spool for the jerkbait but I havent found one I like as much. The Rooster Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 6'6" Shimano Compre mh/f with Curado E7. This rod does so many things well that I almost never go fishing without it. If I leave it behind it's because I'm going river fishing where I can just sling a bait out and bring it back with any rod and catch fish. It's too rocky there to lay the rod down and not get it tore up so I just take Ugly Stiks when I go there. Quote
PondBoss Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Abu Garcia Veritas 7' M micro guide, this thing goes with me every single time. It is so versatile I can't afford not to take it. I can throw cranks of all sizes, jigs up to 3/8oz, t-rigs, jerk baits, spinnerbaits. This rod is definitely not a one trick pony. Quote

Lucky Craft Man Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 For me it would be my NRX DSR 822S. I always have this rod rigged up with a drop shot rig and ready to go, even when I am fishing lakes with a lot of weeds. I maybe buried with this thing. Quote
piscicidal Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 The MVP don't need to be the most expensive or the best rod in your arsenal. But it's the one that makes things happen....the one you can rely on everytime out. Kind of like my guy Adrian Peterson. OK...maybe not the best analogy since he #28 IS the best and most expensive player on my Vikings, but you get the point... Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 I can't narrow it to one. I just can't do it. I have two rods that go with me every where, every time. The first is a Shimano CUmara Reaction 7-11 MH Xfast. It will fish everything from deep cranks to swimjigs in a pinch. I use it for open water spinnerbaits and cranking more than anything, but have taken to flipping with it because of its power and forgiveness. Completely ridiculous notion, I know, but this rod will do it. The second is my GLX 894. I replaced a NRX with the GLX and I like it better. IT's hard to describe until you've fished them both. It just feels better. With the weight reduction on the GLX, I'm seriously considering going away from the NRX and back to the reliability of the GLX... another post for another time. Quote
DaveT63 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 My MVP would have to be either my St Croix Legend Extreme 7' MF or my G Loomis MBR 842C GLX. No matter where I go, at least one of them are with me, usually both. Quote
Super User Goose52 Posted February 6, 2013 Super User Posted February 6, 2013 I'm not sure I've seen any dominant trend - not even the classic 7' MH-F BC bass rod. I HAVE seen quite a few mentions of 7' M-F BC rods though, which, since I fish mostly all open water, is my favorite BC length, power, and action; very versatile for many other folks as well it seems... cbass12 Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Toss up between a 6'10" MH Falcon Low Rider with a Gen 2 Revo S.... and a 6'6" ML Bionic Blade spinning rod (old cork handle model) with a new model 2500 shimano sedona. Both are extremely versatile and are both always with me. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted February 7, 2013 Super User Posted February 7, 2013 I have an old Daiwa Procaster rod that is around 30 yo. It is my punching and weed fishing rod. It is sensitive, but very sturdy. Quote
