Most Valuable Pole.

In honor of my favorite football player, Adrian Peterson... what is your favorite fishing rod?

This is the fishing rod that goes with you everytime you go fishing.  The setup that elicits a visceral response just by looking at it...

I'll start: my Dobyns 804C.  It is labeled as a "carolina rig rod", but it is awesome at launching soft-body swimbaits and frogs obscene distances.  My tourney partner Jack, jokes with me about no bass being out of reach.  If I see him bust, I can get the bait to him...and since it's a carolina rig rod it has a seriously stiff backbone.  Can set the hook on a hollowbody, even at long distances.

It doesn't matter what kind of bite is going on at any given time...I will have the 804C with me and I will be using it for something (frogs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits)

LTBC70MF or Dobyns 745c.  Those two rods can do just about everything, unless I'm out drop shotting smallies.  Then, it's the AVS63MLXF.

Powell Endurance 723. I liked it so much, i have 2 of them. I use them for alot of things. Jigs, soft plastics, spinner baits, swim jigs, chatterbaits, flukes, hollow body swim baits.

sure i have others that get pretty technique specific, but at the end of the year, when its all said and done, i can honestly say that ive used these the most. (You can tell when its time to clean the cork)

"This is the fishing rod that goes with you everytime you go fishing."

I fish all 4 seasons here - including every day this winter (soft water all winter so far).  I fish different stuff depending the season and whether I'm fishing from the bank or the boat. There is only one rod that I always have with me, ashore or afloat, regardless of season - a lipless crank rod. Nothing fancy - a St. Croix Premier 7' MF BC rod with the 5-Year Challenge PQ on it with 10 YZ-US line.

Except for the dead of winter, there is a 2nd rod that I nearly always have with me - a grub/senko rod. Loomis GLX BSR852 spinning rod with a Pflueger Supreme 025 with either 6lb YZ-US or 20lb braid.

I'll have to say that neither rig "elicits a visceral response just by looking at it..." - I'm not sure I have any tackle that does that...  I do have some tackle I'm fond of, but not to a "visceral" degree.  They're just tools....

I've only had it a couple months, but my NRX 804c is a stud! It's great for everything from jigs to chatterbaits to hollow bodies. It's also ba with a Fat Ika. I really love this stick!

My favorite for smallies is a custom Otterod built on a st croix legend extreme blank SCV 5C72MHM. I use it for all treble baits. My favorite for single hook baits is a st croix legend extreme LXC74HF. I just ordered it today for 1oz jigs, texas rigs & big EZ's. I even shipped it to Robert's house to keep it on the down low. :laugh5:

Was previously a dobyns dx 703 with a curado 50e. Now it may be the shimano cumulus 6'10 MH with a core 50mg7

Where I'm fishing usually dictates which combos are coming with me, but what's really important is

ADRIAN PETERSON MVP... YEAHHHHH BOYYYYYYY

Piscicidal AP is my favorite player too. Vikings are my favorite team.

My 6'8 MH F Shimano Compre. It had a Curado50E on it, but now it has the Curado100B for my daily user.

I love to frog and punch so a Steez XBD for frogs and the 7'11 St. Croix Xtreme for punching. Though for everyday use would probably be a NRX 853.

X2 love my Recon 715. I have a Revo sx strapped on it spooled with 20lb Sunline. Primarily my jig rod, but it is a very versatile rod.

Hmmmm tough choices here but I am going to go with my sage XP 9' 7wt. It was my first premium fly rod that I earned by working and guiding at the local fly shop. Since it was a pro deal I even got to have my name on the blank.....love that rod and have caught a lot of smallies and largemouth on it for sure.

Here's another for the Dobyns DX745. Sometimes I sleep with this rod at night <3

Yeah man.  I do love my Dobyns 804C...she's my MVP...I take her everywhere.

My Dobyns DX745 OTOH is the smokin hot mistress I often think about when I'm with the 804.

Custom St. Croix 5S69MLXF.  Out of all of my DS rods, it's my favorite.

I'm gonna have to go all Dollar General on you guys, especially after all those fancy names. As of right now I'd say Abu Garcia Veritas 7'6" medium. It's a Maserati compared to a Shakespeare rod from Wal-Mart!

Rods don't have to be expensive to be the MVP.  You just have to use them and like them.   I have several veritas rods and I love em.
