Super User WRB Posted February 3, 2013 Super User Posted February 3, 2013 Strike King 1/2 oz Rocket Shad in shad color is an excellent white and hybrid striped bass lure. Tom Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 3, 2013 Super User Posted February 3, 2013 Paul, we have to know what types of water you fish and a lot of other details so we can help you. As for the striped bass query please check the Internet for pros that guide on your body of water to find out what they are using. You can also visit local tackle shops and get their input as to how to best fish for the striped bass. Go on-line to Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops and request a free catalog. When you receive them sit down and go over each page. Note all baits and their usages and techniques. Regarding your query on your baits - once again, another easy question with a very difficult anwer, Please consider the following to start your bass fishing tackle collection: 1. Topwater - Cavitron buzzbait 2. Wake Bait - Norman N Wake Bait 3. 3 to 10 feet of water - Bandit crankbaits 4. Plastics - Power Baits or Zoom green pumpkin and watermealon trick worms and finesse worms 5. Jigs and pigs after you learn how to be successful with plastics 6. Creature baits - Baby Brush Hog 7. Stick Baits - Senkos or other stick baits You need to read, read and read about the baits that are available and also get those catalogs. Good luck. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted February 3, 2013 Global Moderator Posted February 3, 2013 What you have now are all good choices. I would add: Senko's for texas and wacky rigging Frog's [scum or phat popping] Spinnerbait's Bladed jig's [chatterbait] Floating worms for shakey heads Sq bill crank's Mike Quote
Paul Andrews Posted February 4, 2013 Author Posted February 4, 2013 thanks guys appreciate the help keep it coming Quote
Super User MCS Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 Bomber square a are a good cheap shallow crank. Smithwick rouges, bomber long a's and rebel minnows are good jerk baits, some suspend some float depending on your preference. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted February 5, 2013 Global Moderator Posted February 5, 2013 My favorite bait for hybrids in moving water is a 4" Storm Wildeye shad in pearl and chartreuse. #3-#5 Mepps can be really good if the current isn't too strong. 1 Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted February 5, 2013 Super User Posted February 5, 2013 Get a spook Jr in white for topwater. A Booyah pad crusher hollow frog. BPS Humping toad Kit. Zoom 6" Lizards in Watermelon Red Chart. Culprit Worms red shad. Bomber square As. Black buzzbait. Chart spinner bait with gold leaves. Should cover you for most LM Bass fishing and others. Quote
Nick49 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Have to agree with Gambler on the junior spook. The version I often use but have not seen on the shelves anymore is the Zara Puppy. Quote
