FloridaBassDude Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Reading through these forums and visiting everyone's profiles, it seems to me that a lot of you have "Pond behind Publix" either as your favorite spot or have posted something good about it. Using google maps, I assume your talking about the one off I-10? I really REALLY want to fish this pond, but it's gated? IS this something you all just ignore haha, or is it open somewhere? Do the employees mind? All help would be appreciated. Alos, the "Law School" pond. Somewhere in the downtown area I believe, can someone give me an address? Any help would be appreciated, thanks! logonzojls Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Pond behind publix has very small and few bass in it. I would not waste your time honestly. Quote
Super User MCS Posted April 7, 2013 Super User Posted April 7, 2013 It depends what publix u are talking about. The one by me was built in 2007, dunno when the fish got in it but I got a few 3-4 pound fish. Lots of fat fighters in there though. If you people complain about small fish you should really scout your ponds better, age of the pond, when/size of fish that got put in and forage type/abundance all factor in to the size of fish you catch. Do your homework kids. 1 Quote
pondslayer Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Beware I've been kicked out of the Law school pond twice! It's owned by a properties owners association that doesnt allow fishing or boating and the law school and business park have roving security! i tried to go through all the channels to get legal permission to fish there with no luck! apparently its private property even though no signs are posted. lucky for me though i met this amazing girl that was a student there so i got to go a few rimes with no problem because the school security allows students to be there and fish and she was a student so they didnt bother us! Spent the vast majority of my youth saltwater fishing. Thanks, Tim I thought Georgia had good bass fishing? If you are in GA you want spots that are north of where we are all familiar with. Do you have a boat? I fish from the bank and have a smart phone. I will sometimes look to estimate how long a pond has been there by the surround neighborhood/businesses. A lot of spots here hold fish. They literally just dug a new pond and filled it 2 or 3 weeks ago for a new community that has no houses built yet and I drive by in the evenings and see fish hitting top water. So for te most part every spot you see will have fish. Some of the best spots are just found randomly or by using google earth (easier if you have the app on your phone) I'd imagine when he said Nocatee Parkway you are not familiar with that area. 1 Quote

Thanks, Tim Yes I can help. how far are you willing to travel I am in southside of Jax Check your message box, gave you a couple leads and a website to look for parks in North Jax. The big bite sticks work good, they are like a senko but little cheaper. Favorite colors, would be black/blue flake and blue tip or watermelon red....Academy sells grande bass rattlesnakes, those are a personal favorite. Get trophy hunter, junebug. If you want to catch blue gill, get some Berkley crappie nibbles or little grubs(they work for bass too) black, white, salt n pepper or smoke. 1 Quote

Big fish 20yr old lake Not sure if you have been there lately but the lake is ruined with vegetation it's so bad that it's not getting better it's getting worse. They need to put like 200 30lb carp in there and still it wouldn't affect anything I have never seen anything like it. It's a shame my favorite area to fish on that lake looks like someone's lawn now Quote
Michaelt1987 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 If you know a student that goes to the law can you fish in it? Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted January 8, 2014 Super User Posted January 8, 2014 If you know a student that goes to the law can you fish in it? No they will kick you out my buddy's girlfriend went there, or he told security she did, and she was there with him reading and they told him he couldn't fish and that was before they put the signs up My buddy snuck on there this past weekend and fished and he caught a few and didn't run into security. So if you wanna test your luck try weekends but still it ain't worth the risk of getting caught and having the security guard think he's a real cop and call the REAL cops to ruin your day. Quote
dsidle61 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 To me any spot with no signs is fair game. If its in a neighborhood or there are houses where you may be on their property just ask. 7/10 times they will have no problems with you fishing there. Im lucky to have my main spot where two houses are empty right where I fish so I can walk the back yards but I know eventually someone will move in and ill have to ask. If its a HOA community its almost not worth the hassle as I found out w AK and Czar, gated communities also not worth it. Other than that youll never know until you cast a line. Don't judge any pond til you try it, I just caught my personal best 8lb 3oz about a week ago in a pond right next to my main spot that I used to see little kids fishing for bream out of and you can cast across it with almost no effort. I used to never fish it bc of that and I took AK there a little while back and he caught some fish out of it so since then ive been fishing it and its produced a 4lb and 8lb among others in that time. Michaelt1987 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Ok I've got a few I'm gonna try when the temp gets up. I live in a HOA and I've been asked if I lived in the place by a few people. I was just wondering if everybody was like these people I found. Quote
