Super User rockchalk06 Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 Anyone have this yet? I'm seriously thinking of upgrading my cranking set up to this. The new gears are stronger. Bent handle and star. EVA grips and its BLACK!!!! Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I have the gen 2 model and I love it, you cannot go wrong. My friends have not been able to use the bb1 to compare it enough to the winch. Honestly the winch is a different beast compared to the bb1. The winch handles deep cranking like no other. The reason I brought up the bb1 is because someone will chime in eventually saying get the bb1 lol. Quote
BradH Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I ordered one yesterday, the Gen 3. After I fish it I'll know more. Quote
Basseditor Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I use Revo 3 winch to fish around heavy cover with big crank baits (6XDs). So I have 20# flouro on it, and 7-6 long rod with a parabolic taper. I haven't tried throwing smaller baits yet. I like it for this set up. I've been using a Lew's tournament pro for smaller crank baits so the set ups are different but I'm happy with both reels. 1 Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 At the end of a long cast, how many inches per handle revolution does it retrieve? oe Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 My Morrum 6.3 - 1 retrieves about the same... not particularly slow. oe Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted February 3, 2013 Super User Posted February 3, 2013 Just got back from Amistad for a week of fishing, used the 3G Winch quite a bit. Casted very well and performed flawless. Quote

soccplayer07 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 seller was "bigfishsports". Really good service. I had to return one and no questions were asked. He sent another right out. Highly recommended. Quote

BradH Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Got my GEN 3 Winch a couple weeks ago and finally sat down yesterday to put line on it and mount it on a rod. The handle nut was loose so I had to take the retainer off and go another notch with the nut. The handle was not tight to the driveshaft. Minor stuff. I did notice they only put two bearings in the handles. The old winch had four. No big deal, I took the knobs off, removed the plastic bushings and put two ball bearings in. If you do the same mod I'd leave the copper thrust washers in. They keep the end play tight and without them in it was noticeable. Flushed spool bearings and I'm ready for action! Quote
Mikey Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Daiwa Crazy Cranker is the BEST & I have used the older SpeedSpools until I discovered this reel I thought the Revo was kinda shoddy just by handling it/ Quote

barroncooper Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I got one recently and I'm impressed. I do however feel that the previous model is much smoother. I think maybe because the 3gen is lighter, it may transfer the geary feel throughout the reel a little easier. over all though it's nice and much lighter than the gen2. as for deep cranking, i don't think there's a better reel on the market and that's a lot considering I'm part of the shimano possee 1 Quote

I'm still on the fence. I have two Curado G's and love em, but that Winch is sexy! Quote
