dave Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Have always intrigued me. Has anyone ever built on a Mudhole MHX S-Glass blank? The spec says it is a FAST action. I don't think I've ever seen a fiberglass rod spec'd as fast action. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 I have not - but I fish a couple of Glass crankbait rods - and really prefer them. A Fast Action spec for a glass rod might be more of a relative term and not one that could really compare to a rod build using a different material. Interesting none the less. A-Jay 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted February 1, 2013 Super User Posted February 1, 2013 I rebuilt my E-Glass crankbait rod back in '08 I believe and use it for striperfishing believe it or not...LOL I like it but it is a bit heavier than the cranks sticks that are out there now. As far as action is concerned: I find that action is really the manufacturers own interpretation, meaning one manufacturer might rate their rod an extra fast action rod but another manufacturer would rate their similar rod fast action, but you put the two rods side by side and load them up, the have the same parabolic bend to them...I hope I wrote that right...LOL Anyway, just MHO 1 Quote
BobP Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 S-Glass can be much faster action than E-Glass. I have an S-Glass and an E-Glass version of a Seeker blank and the S-Glass is faster action and much lighter weight than the E-Glass version. The action classification of rods is somewhat dependent on the other rods within a manufacturer's lineup, so everything is relative, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch to call some S-Glass rods "fast action". 1 Quote
