CPBassFishing Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Check this out. I have been wanting a stand-up finesse jig for the longest time, but I could not find a 1/4 oz jig with a light wire hook for the life of me, so I decided to improvise. I took a perfect watermelon skirt off a dirty jigs flipping jig, and put in on a 1/4 megastrike shakeE2 head. It provides the action I want out of a jig with the stand-up capabilities of the shaky head. I am using a PTL Craw D'oeurve as a trailer. What do you think? 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 31, 2013 Super User Posted January 31, 2013 I think you did a fantastic job! Congrats on thinking out of the box. Changing baits is one of the fun parts of bass fishing. I bet the bait works great. Let us know how you do with it. Quote
CPBassFishing Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 I will. I can't wait for the spawn to test it out. Oops, this got moved to tackle making. Sorry mods! Won't happen again. EDIT: hmmmm.......back in fishing tackle.......odd. Quote
dumfish Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Evalution jigs work great for exposing the trailer in a stand up posture. We all continue to experiment with new ideas, we need to these days of pressured fish. Quote
Jig Meister Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If you are looking for this style of jig, go to wally world, there you can find some 1/4 - 1/2 Mushroom head jigs, these work awesome, all they want to do is stand. But caution to you, these things will only really work well on firm bottoms, if it is mud they get dug in way too easy. I think they are made by Arkie but don't quote me. They have a single wire weed guard, a skirt with rubber banding with fit perfect https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=winxVth9x1gtWM&tbnid=23t-tjagiMAarM:&ved=0CAUQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.fishin247.com%2Ff247%2Fb1_freshwater-fishing-discussion%2Ft7180_cabin-creek-baits%2F&ei=gi0LUZ-EF-680AHVkIDYAQ&bvm=bv.41867550,d.dmQ&psig=AFQjCNFcx4XaJkGcGgTu3MVR_VqjXdf4Rw&ust=1359773370781380 Scrolldown to the bottom of that link to see what I am talking about. The hook is thing like you want. Hope that helps. I use these sometimes when I want something that is going to stand straight up in the air if I am fishing on rocks or hard bottoms. Quote

Super User Teal Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 ah well. I tried. Thats more than alot of us can say. Keep it up. Do your homework and research. Keep you ideas simple but creative. Be innovative but in sense that applies to bass and forage and appeals to fishermen. Just keep pumping out ideas and lures. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 CP, nice job! It's not a matter of whether someone else makes a similar bait or not It's a matter of you taking the time and using your Imagination; chances are there are very few baits that we as weekend fisherman can think about making and act upon that haven't been thought of before. WHEN you catch fish on your bait take pride In a job well done, the creativity It took to do it, and don't worry about the small stuff. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 ah well. I tried. I was NOT criticizing you. The ShakE2 makes a great jig. By doing your own thing you will come up with unique color combinations and maybe use different materials. It's all good. I was just letting you and other members know that Bobby offers a unique jig series with the same revolutionary jig head. The hook is ultra sharp and consistently stands tall. Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 2, 2013 Super User Posted February 2, 2013 We know you werent coming down on him. You were simply stating a fact. I just think its really cool to have such a young man so interested in creating new and innovative products for our beloved sport. I see a young man like that, i cant help but encourage him. Heck, with determination, we could be buying lures with his name on em one day. You wereto right. The Shakey2 and evolution jig are great innovative products. Quote
