My local store has both of those rods reduced to 120. I needed a jig rod and they had sizes to do the job. What's y'all's take on these rods? Or I could save 40 buck for a Veritas.

For that price I'd go Villian. They are sweet and run 200 bucks

seems like the price has dropped to 129 in most places that Ive seen it sold

Is Ike using the villains? Or still with the Veritas

I've seen both on his deck. Most Veritas but a few Villians.

I talked to the USC bass fishing team captain and he sponsored by Abu and tested the villains. He said they were junk.

If your choice is villian or veritas, go villain. A firend of mine uses them for worm and jigs. Ive actually fished a jig with a 7'1" MH Villain on said friends boat and i liked it alot. It felt a little stiff at first but it turned out to be great for making long roll casts and med. Range pitches. The rod is flat out sensitive. Its not a loomis or a st. Croix but it def feels like mr.bass is knocking on your door when he picks up the jig. (Was using vicious pro elite fluoro)

Ive also heard about alot of breakages with all abu rods. But their customer serivce (and thru pure fishing) is top notch.

Yyou can always buy a powell rod

Most of my rods are between $120 and $400 with my cheap rod being a $79.99 Abu Vendetta and I really like it, a good all purpose set up that I use in the small boat. That being said I found the villian on sale on Amazon for $117 but my friend told me not to do it and he let me use his....not good. I wouldn't call it junk but I like my cheap Vendetta a lot more, the reel seat feel ok on the Villian but I'm not sure it helps as there isn't much feel and it is heavy considering they claimed it was going to be mega light, it isn't. Quantum gets a bad rap from people, I even know guys that bust on the brand who never used it but I will stick up for them for a few things, in this case I won't, the EXO rod isn't what I would call fabulous, it does have better sensitivity and is light years lighter than the villian but over priced. If you can olny choose between the two the EXO would be a better choice, if you can choose something else then go that route.

I have a 7'1 MH/F Villain. Its a good rod, not my favorite but thats really only because the reel seat and the grip isn't my favorite, but thats it. If you're deciding between the Villain and the Veritas, definitely go Villain. Its much more sensitive and balances a lot better. At 120 I think its a good deal. I got mine for 110 or 120 and I think it was worth it.
