So I have been reading about 10 or so posts about how people are buying the sexy shad color on lures and that if you're not "sexy" you ain't fishing....

So my question is....how good is this color really?  I fish all color waters....clear to a slight murky mostly...but sometimes a little muddy...but not bad.  Is the crankbait better to get or the spinners...or the jigs?

Sorry to be dumb on this, but I had to ask because it finally caught my attention enough....

Any help is appreciated!

As hot as any other shad color you can find.

So really a shad color is a shad color then?

I 've got no idea what you mean.

Do you have Blueback Herring or Threadfin Shad in your waters? Do you think "sexy" helps the bait catch more fish? Would you have more confidence in a crankbait in a "sexy shad" color pattern?  If you answered yes to any of these questions then go for it!  Just because there's alot of chatter about a bait and/or color doesn't mean it's going to catch more fish for everyone.

I guess what I was asking was if this is a more all around color in comparison to a color for dark or clear water.

Like a lure is a lure...meaning they all catch fish.

Sorry...i recently just got hooked on buzz baits after I would never touch one in years. So just getting a feel for the whole color thing is my downfall.   :)

1,000* F on crankbaits.  :)

I only use them in crankbaits. I don't see the color on spinnerbaits and jigs being any more producing than another color skirt.

what madbass said. i have threadfin all over the place where i'm fishin, so for me its hot. threadfin is one of the most common shad species.

ive only thrown that color on cranks and traps.... but it seems to work well for me in both clear and dirty water.

i think its life like enough for clear water... and the chart. line down the side is flashy enough for stained/murky water.

truthfully its my go to color crank now. *shrug*

To be honest, I actually picked up some lures in the sexy shad color a while back because nobody I know or seen fishing throws that color.  And because of that fact it has been my number one producing color pattern.  I have cranks, lipless, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and swim jigs, all sexy shad.  But the cranks and lipless cranks are where I get most of my fish.
