Now I still have some, and will use it, but find P-Line Floroclear and Yo-Zuri Hybrid more than up to the task. Quote

I could go on a rant why, but the search feature is good for that. Most reliable? Without a doubt seaguar, they control all the manufacturing processes in the manufacturing of their lines. The variance in line diameter between spools is incredibly low. Quote

nwmike Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 every one is going to have varying opinions on fluro.I think fluro has it advantages and disadvantages like all lines.I used fluro for a long time and almost all the top brands. of all the ones I used shooter was my favourite for casting reels and sniper for spinning reels.I had to many negative experiences with fluro and have since switch backed to mono and copoly lines.I fish shallow most of the time and usually up close and personal.I missed the give mono had when combat fishing.I think the best thing you can do is try fluro and see if you like it.I feel that its important to buy a quality fluro line in order to get an accurate impression of how it handles.to me trying new stuff and experimenting are part of the fun in fishing,you won't know if you don't try. 1 Quote

I personally love it. You don't "have" to use fluorocarbon. There are perks to it which personally make fishing it more enjoyable than using a braid/fluoro leader.It is one of those things that you should not skimp on though. 1 Quote
scrutch Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I've used a few different fluorocarbon lines. I started with p line, switched to Seguar, then to yozuri hybrid ultra soft. I hated the yozuri. It had way too much memory for my applications. I switched back to Seguar invisX. FOR ME, it's the best. My next switch will be from power pro braid (which I think is pretty good) to Seguar kanzen braid to see if I like it better. Whatever you do, don't buy a 1000 yard spool of anything until you know what you like. Quote

I don't care much for my knots especially with F/C leaders and with a heavier # test. We have species down here that are supposed to be very line shy, I've caught them on wire and not just once. I''ll go braid with mono or floroclear leader just about all the time. Quote

Braid for most all my set-ups. On the rare occassion that i fish on a clear lake, i will tie a BPS XPS fluoro leader. Quote

SudburyBasser Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 We must be twins. Triplets apparently. Most of the lakes I fish are fairly clear and I've never had a problem using braid. There are occasions I'll use a flouro leader but spooling up flouro? I doubt I'll ever do so. That said, there are plenty of cats who swear by it so there probably isn't a right answer. Just your preference. Quote
