If I still lived up north, I'd probably agree, LOL... I braved the weather for the past couple of winters here, fishing on days into the 20's. Not this year. Not saying it won't happen. The itch is killing me! 1 Quote

You are blessed ot be near some outstanding fisheries and some are even spring fed i.e. constant water temps pretty much year round. My largest brown trout i caught on a day where the mercury barely got into the double digits but the water was still in the high 40's i believe Quote

I go every chance I get, it's with in walking distance from my house and usually end up with one or two, but I don't fly fish, it does not look like something I would enjoy lol !!! Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 it is definitely a different type of fishing and mentality for sure. it is as much being out in the mountains catching native fish after native fish that keeps me going. Besides, it is always fun to be able to catch fish on top no matter what month of the year it is Quote
Super User tomustang Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 It depends, can you still go out and throw the line? I would but our "warm" teaser day is still flogged by ice everywhere Quote

Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 My tease was leaving my house in 5* weather last Thursay morning and hitting central FLA in 75* weather that afternoon. It got up to about 80* by Saturday and Sunday I was back in the high teens when my flight landed. 1 Quote
Super User MCS Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 I cannot imagine that any more. I miss a little of the white stuff and a crisp morning after the snow. But days and months with a high below freezing is not something I wish to experience ever again. LOL I feel bad for you guys, I really do. 1 Quote
Super User Jigfishn10 Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 I used to love it, MCS, when I was younger because you could go skiing in the winter and of course do all the warm weather activities, but you start to hate it when your joints get older and you have to work for a living...LOL Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted January 29, 2013 Super User Posted January 29, 2013 It's been 40-60 since Monday all the snow is gone not much ice left it's been raining like crazy here in WNY. Supposed to go back into the teens for the highs on thursday though. Quote

Super User Nitrofreak Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 I saw one post this time last year from someone in Fla. complaining about having to wear a sweatshirt to go fishing in the morning LMAO !!! Windy? Make sure you take you spinner bait rod and charge your tm batteries. Hahaha unless its 30+ mph, wind doesnt stopp this guy. Im probably going in the next hour. I ain't skeeerd !!! I don't mind fishing the wind, unfortunatly the last meet and greet did my trolling motor in, it was so windy down by the dam that my trolling motor batteries were used up within an hour, went back and had to get the battery off of my camper to try and finish the day, the motor went kaput and that was all she wrote, I need a new one before I can get her back out on the water. Super User Teal Posted January 30, 2013 Super User Posted January 30, 2013 oh man, sorry to hear that. I hope you get it replaced before it warms up. Quote

So long as it is constructive and not painfully obvious we live in the wrong place. But in all honesty, to hit your lakes for some FL strain bass is a dream of mine. Would love to catch a PB of double-digits there. And I'd like to score some Peacock bass while I'm there, too. 1 Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Super User Posted January 30, 2013 Here in Chicago we get all four seasons in a day. It gets stupid weird here sometimes. Quote
